A huge mistake Republicans made decades ago was getting cozy with Christian fundamentalists. The true spirit of Christianity is one of compassion, helping the poor and downtrodden , walking away from war, forgiveness of past transgressions, healing the sick, respecting the world around us and science.

Yet , when I see these right wing Christian groups in the US they do everything that is unChristian and more - they look down on the poor, they want to deny medical care to the sick , they are war mongers who are obsessed with vengeance, they distrust science.

I have met many Christian fundamentalists in my life and they were not nice people at all and one Characteristic I noticed in many of them is that the all seemed to delight in the suffering of others.

The image of Christianity in the US has already been tarnished.
