Why are people so quick to compare or call others nazis, over things that has absolutely nothing with nazism?

For example, say someone says something along the lines republicans are quick to call anyone who disagree with Trump evil and harass people off the internet.

I point out I have seen that sort of attitude more often from left leaning places, in particular Resetera and RPGnet.

And somehow me pointing that out is supposed to make me an bitter alt-right nazi who attempts to stomp down in discussion like Hitler and my statement is propaganda even thought I could go to Resetera or RPGnet and dig up some proof if needed.

It is a go to buzz word to describe someone who is bad for the progressive left. Bottom line, any disagreement or opposition to what they believe they will throw that word out with the multitude of others they have at their disposal to silence, slander or dehumanize them. It is just another word that has lost its meaning over time because of the constant usage.

its a go-to insult for people with little imagination who want to say the worst thing they can think of. It happens on both sides of most populist arguments, once a person does this, they kind of lose all credibility in their side of the debate and sort of just look like a donkey hee-haw'ing...

Because they know no one likes them so they label them that way so that people don't want to associate with them. It's so much easier than actually trying to win an argument, at least at the moment.
