Not Russia. They could just turn the pipelines off at the source if they wanted. That would be a lot easier and much more effective. Germany obviously has a reason to cut gas supplies as they try to force the Build Back Better agenda on the EU. You will eat ze bug. You will own nothing and be happy. Get in your tiny house cell and peddle a bike to generate electricity... Ukraine obviously has a reason to make Europe suffer so that they can shift that anger toward Russia and grease more funding and supplies out of western countries via a false flag. They also have a history of doing this... They were caught shelling their own people and pushing the narrative that Russians where murdering civilians. They were also caught shelling nuclear plants and pushing narratives that Russians were trying to cause a nuclear explosion when the Russians already controlled the nuclear plants and clearly were not shelling themselves. Switzerland being the home of Geneva and especially Davos has a reason to do it, not only for the World Economic Forums agenda, but also for market manipulation to make lots of money.

obviuously usa did. russia has no interest in damaging nordstream. neither does any of the other parties involved except usa. and on top of it biden even announced that he'd make sure there's not gonna be gas going through nordstream 2.

The actor in this certainly wanted to stop any further Russian gas flows to Europe. That could include a large number of commercial and green interests.

The tenuous assertions that the US blew them up because Biden mumbled about stopping Nord Stream 2 is fairly ludicrous because it was stopped diplomatically. It would be very interesting to know the basis of US warnings.

The question is who would benefit from a diplomatic resumption being made impossible? It could be argued anti-Russian interests in Germany would like it to be impossible to resume dependency on Russian gas. That has to presume German military would act against there own gov't.

Now Russia. Lets not confuse Putin with Russia. There has to be a large number of the upper echelon who can see the damage Putin has done. Until the pipelines were blown it was possible for Putin to succumb to his health issues and for Russian gas flows to resume. Incidentally if it isn't resumed there will be damage to the gas wells themselves.

Blowing the pipelines forstalls a potential coup de'tate against Putin as a motivation disappears off the table. Also scares the hell out of the Europeans and think about capitulating like France did in WWII.

STOP THINKING OF FROGMEN AND SUBMERSIBLES AND SUBMARINES. It is quite possible to have set explosives INSIDE the pipeline. Machines are sent down the pipeline as established procedures. Here is a pic of a pipeline PIG for Nord Stream.

Far easier to repurpose a routine procedure than undertake a risky naval mission. We will have to wait for pics of the pipeline burst. With magnetic attachment nothing to see when it got to the PIG trap at the German end. Looks like lots of room for an explosive package.

Russia did not blow up their own pipeline. If they wanted, all they had to do was shut off the gas and no gas and no pipeline problems. Russia would not blow up its own infrastructure as they do not like to spend money on the same things twice. Unlike the US, Russia is a bit more pragmatic in how it spends money. The amount of man hours and money that goes into laying that kind of infrastructure is money Russia only want to spend once. Hence the reason for the precautions, and the huge outlay of materials.

Spoilers, the only country it probably is not, is Germany. They are the only ones who dont have a clear motive. Everyone else, including the Russians, has motives for why they might do this.

As for who the main suspects are? I think Russia actually. Not only do they have one of the most direct motives for doing this but I also heard that there was a few Russian military ships loitering around there before the incident.

But that does not really mean much. The nature of this sabotage is such that it might just be an individual or a company at which point it could be competitors to Russian energy wanting to sell their own gas or energy into Europe.

But in the end, this does not really mean much in the grand scheme of things. Not much gas was likely to be piped through there in the next decade as it is. Its like beating a dead horse, more of a statement than actually accomplishing anything.

The most likely culprints is US and Russia, russia because putin wants to burn his bridges behind him so no one can undo his actions and replace him. Ie just start up the pipeline, end the war and start pay repair costs to get the sanctions lifted. Now who ever comes after him have to sleep in the bed he made and have no alternative. The economy is crashed, no quick recovery options exist. Very hard to become popular under these circumstances. Or US because they simply do shit like this all the fucking time. And they benefit from high energy prices. Most other countries doesn't really do covered operations, they don't have the command structure for it.

Given the swarms of US Navy helicopters over the incident sites shortly before the sabotage, as well as the difficulty Russia would have pulling this off unnoticed so close to Danish territory, and given it only benefits the US, it is almost certainly the US.

If Putin's dumb enough to be considering using nukes as he's suggested by claiming the Allied Forces use in Hiroshima and Nagasaki to end a global war created a precedent for the use of tactical nukes when a neighbouring country has something you want then he's crazy enough to blow up his own pipeline.

But I would be interested to see any images of the pipeline at the 'explosion' sites, I'd be able to tell a lot by the way the pipes were ruptured- Internal or External explosion, If the pipe is splayed out them the explosives were in Cleaning or universal 'pig' inside the pipe. If the pipe was cut, torn and folded in, then the explosives were external and most likely a shaped charge.

Almost certainly the US. Not at all clear what Russia would have to gain. They could always just shut off the taps if they wanted to, so blowing up the pipeline doesn't really help them.

And just to be clear, I tend to then Russia is generally a super negative force for human kind. I'm not at all a fan and think the world would be a better place without that awful government.
