This might be asylum not refugee status. But yes I think they should be given asylum if they ask for it. That's what political asylum is for.

The main differences between asylum and refugee is that with asylum the people show up first and ask for asylum. It is granted on a case by case basis. With refugees they are given refugee status ahead of time, and it's usually given to large numbers of people at once.

I think politically, granting blanket refugee status to anyone who flees the draft will be seen as provocation because it will encouraging people to do it. That is far more aggressive that simply granting asylum after they show up.

It is a hard decision. Russians have ignored the issues they have had with leadership for a long time. I don't know. On the one hand, they obviously are not supporting the war effort.

But on the other hand, they are only fleeing because they do not want to be killed in the war. They were okay with everything else until they had to get involved.

So I think it should be up to individual nations. Because while you are helping refugees, the fact is many Russians played this game of nationalism, which only ends in one result.

If Russia had been a small country yes, but no we cannot handle that large population so they better fix their country and turn against putin. Their population would overflow the streets of all countries and when their resources run out turn to crime and we would have collapsed the west.
