Or the rest of the country for that matter. Given they aren't building more nuclear and are shutting the last nuclear reactor down, they may not have sufficient water, coal and gas is too polluting, and solar and wind is... sketchy. That pretty much leaves humans and hamsters turning wheels. Programmers are getting fat and out of shape, as well, they are using up lots of energy. So lets get those chubbers to work. Here's one way to do it... they self power their workstation.

The problem isn't that programmers are expected to churn out too much in one day, and then don't have time to live normal, happy lives. The problem is that Californians are too brainwashed to realize that McCarthy was right, and that energy isn't the enemy. The real enemy, is a bunch of envy-driven psychopaths at the top of the political food chain, who want to destroy modern energy, because forcing everyone back to the Middle Ages will make it easier to control us. It's not pollution they hate; they do it themselves worse than you or I can dream of. It's our independence they can't stomach!

Until Californians figure that out, nothing will get better. No matter how many human hamsters you create.

I was an IT manager at a college and I just hired a new technician. He was a young kid and we were talking about replacing all the computers in one of the labs. I told him we were going to have pedal powered computers. This kid was really psyched about it. After we all laughed about it we told him the truth and he was clearly disappointed.
