Why are we unable to fix the problem of traffic?

I’m so sick of sitting in traffic on the way home 😡

The problem here in the UK is too many junctions are poorly designed, often by people who aren't familiar with an area. They look great on paper and in computer models but in practice they're confusing or even dangerous.
That 4 lane roundabout with lights is great if you're local and know what lane to be in, but throw in a confused tourists and you've suddenly got tailbacks.
Then in cities the roads are broken up into bus lanes and bike lanes and your confused with a clutter of road signs on posts and faded road markings you can't make out. It just takes one driver who's a bit lost and there's chaos.

You also see the traffic of Istanbul. You can travel a 2 hour road in 5 hours🤓

Move somewhere else. I moved to Oregon and highway 30 there's barely any traffic on my way home everyday. When I lived in California omg highway 80 was horribly bad for traffic and I'm sure still is.

Road routes weren't built big enough for certain areas with high populated cities.

We can fix it, but we aren't willing. There is a simple immediate solution -- charge a toll to drive at peak times. Increase the toll until traffic flows smoothly. A longer term solution is to have effective mass transit.

I don't live in a heavy traffic area, but sometimes I think about how if they made every single highway a twin highway there would no more head on collisions ever.

We have solved it. It is public transportation. Oil companies just lobby against it so it remains largely undeveloped.
