Anyone here had a Kia stolen yet?

Thefts of these things are through the roof, even worse than Chargers and Challengers. I was shooting the shit on another forum with a Detroit Police Dept sergeant earlier; he said he'd estimate 15-20% of the Kias and Hyundais driving around here are stolen cars at any given time.

Oh I heard about this a few weeks ago. Weird people. What's so special about those cars? Who not steal from Toyota or Honda? I don't have a car so I got nothing to worry about.

The special thing about them is the lack of an immobilizer (the handshake between the car's ecu and the transmitter in a programmed keyfob). That and apparently the key lock assembly comes out easily.
They're just the easiest makes to defeat the lock and steal.

I see this morning our local PD scooped up 4 juveniles in the act of stealing a Kia a couple miles down the street. Also recovered the stolen car they arrived to the location in... you guessed it, another Kia. It's that rampant around here.
