Why do so many white conservative parents ban their kids from watching the news?

I know this is an unspoken issue in my family. We're technically "Armenian" but we don't act as such; our views and our attitudes reflect like pretty much any lower-to-middle-class white family in California.

My stepdad doesn't allow my brother to talk about Russia, Ukraine, he's barely allowed to talk about the President. My stepdad is cool with having gay friends, but seeing a gay couple or trans couple with kids is just awkward and devilish to him.

Because the media constantly lies. It’s funny that some people are saying that they want their kids to be malleable and easily influenced, as if they themselves are neither of those things.
