I think there should be limits on the age difference and other factors. In Japan, the age of consent is 13, but some local city governments have raised it a little higher. There is a thing where the minor has to be in a relationship with the older person, and that relationship has to be approved by their parents. Naturally, parents are not going to approve of someone too old.
Another thing is that our laws unofficially seem to only apply if the minor is a girl and the older person is a man. I have never seen a woman get charged for being with a younger boy.

I just found out last night that most of the states are already at 16! I think should be low enough. Besides, girls much younger than that aren't exactly ready for pregnancy. And, if one gets knocked up and the guy that did it leaves her to fend for the kid, how can she do so when she can't even get a job, yet?

As long as there are also the usual accompanying rules, so it would still be illegal if there's an age-gap of more than a year or two, or if one is in a position of trust/power, etc. I doubt it would actually even have much of an effect - the ones who would do it, are probably already going to do it anyway.

@iamamap its not illegal to feel attraction but going beyond that like anything sexual you're asking for trouble to be honest. Maybe i exaggerated a bit but when i was a teen i was groomed by a man that was much older... you can believe what you like but it's not always the same with a younger girl and older guy vs a younger guy and older woman sometimes.
