Levesque sounds more like a hybrid European name than Asian.00 Reply

+1 yIt sounds European, but I’m sure you’re aware of the Otaku phenomenon, I’m certain there must be a Korean version as well.

+1 yNo, it's French, Hunter Hearst Hemsley ( Triple HHH) WWE Superstar has a last name the same name

+1 yAre you by chance related to Jean Paul Levesque, otherwise known as HHH, Hunter Hearst Helmsley. Jean Paul, sounds French to me, so, you sound more French than Korean
00 Reply18.6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. That wouldn’t have been my first guess. It sounds French in etymological terms. If you are Asian, I’d say perhaps Indochina where the French had lots of colonies.
10 ReplyEvery Levesque I know of is either French or French-Canadian.
00 Reply1.4K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Sounds more French than anything else.
20 Reply5.7K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. No, that's a French surname.

So, 1) the name doesn't sound Korean. In fact, you will not even see a Q in anything in anglicized Korean names, so 2) no, it has no roots in Korean culture.
Embrace your Québecoise nature!
In the 1970s, I studied French for 4 years not for being able to go to France (which I did in 2007), but for the times I visited Québec, which I have done several times. I love it there, but still need to visit VIlle de Québec. by the way, my job right now involves PW Canada in Longueuil.
Anyway, embrace your Québecoise nature. After all, ...

Asker+1 yFucking South Park is fucking stupid.
Asker+1 yAlso, Québec City is a breeding ground for racists and xenophobia.

Asker+1 yBecause I'm from Québec and they whitewash everything.

Asker+1 yWhatever.
Asker+1 yNo. I'm from Québec and they fucking whitewash stuff.
Asker+1 yOk, so? I had a friend from SK who had Korean ancestry, but she was from Québec.
Asker+1 yWait, she's not from SK, her great grandparents are, but she has a white last name.
Asker+1 yJust because I legally look white doesn't mean I fully am.

Good for her, when Asians move to another country they tend to adopt westernized names based on where they are going, to better integrate to that society.
I don't give a damn about your race, hon. You asked about your last name, which is a French one, and French only. That is not up for debate, it is a fact. You don't have to like it.
Asker+1 yIt originates in France, but I think it's a Canadian last name.
Asker+1 yBecause I feel in tune with South Korea.
Asker+1 yThere has to be some sort of Korean in me.

@PrettyPriya any advice
Asker+1 yI did.
Asker+1 yI just didn't believe it because I had too much French... like, 82%.
Asker+1 yNo, but my mom said something about having East Asian in her DNA. It said I'm mostly French, some British, and slight Scandinavian & Native American. According to the test, most of my French ancestors came from Normandy to "New France" (known now as Québec). I'm guessing the Scandinavian comes directly from their ancestors and the Native American comes from them "mixing" when the French colonized their land. No idea where the hell the British comes from.
Asker+1 yBut that doesn't mean I don't have Korean at all... my mom said we have some in us.
Asker+1 yLike, she's not a liar.
Asker+1 yNo, she didn't. She even adopted into Korean culutre when her father married a Korean woman, her stepmom and who I call my grandma.
Asker+1 yNo, I swear she said that we did at some point.
Asker+1 yMy mom is actually really smart, and I highly doubt that she lied.
Asker+1 yOk, but I don't like claiming the title "French Canadian". I'm pretty sure French Canadians are known racists in other parts of Canada. Also, don't even think about spending a day in Québec if you're foreign because ohhh we're sooo xenophobic. I don't know French people, though.
Asker+1 yThe rest of Canada is always up our fucking asses, yet we gave those MFers their main symbolism. Hockey? Us. Bilingualism? Us. Maple syrup? US.
Asker+1 yAnd BC is where all the "Asian Canadians" live, even though there are some outside of BC. BC likes to claim their the "New China" like Québec did France at some point, but we're not fucking French; we're hardly even Canadian.
- +1 y
You don't have to claim it if you don't want to. I'm American, and not even far from your border. But I don't claim the title of American, I was just born here. Ethnically I'm Germanic and norwegian. But it's another thing to claim to be something you are definitely not. Now if you emigrate to Korea and become a citizen, you are very much Korean then. So that's your best approach
Asker+1 yThen why can the Koreans come here and claim to be French Canadian?
Asker+1 yAnd I want to move to SK, but I don't have the money. Fuck Justin Trudeau. Fuck your president. Fuck Putin. Fuck them all.
Asker+1 yI don't hate the French in me, it's just lame.
