Because most republicans didn’t go to college most started life working and could never afford college the ones who could paid it off, Most Republicans started there own business they own the plumbing companies the landscaping business trucking companies most didn’t go to collage (some did of course)

then you have people who could afford to go to college but they went for degrees that are worthless. (Frankly I wouldn’t be against the idea of colleges having to pay back the money they were paid if the student hasn’t gotten a job in there degree field within 5 years of graduating). Our education system is really set up for stem feels like engineering physics and the medical field and law are really the only money making professions beyond teaching even my degree is worthless unless I want to be a lawyer (need to go to law school) teacher but need a teaching degree on top of history or politician. But The root of why Republicans are pissed at student loan forgiveness by the federal government is in the paragraph above.

The difference between the government and giving bail out money to businesses during the Covid pandemic and forgiving student loans is those businesses would still have been functioning perfectly normal he had the government not shut down their businesses forcibly but they were still forced to pay rent on their business and since they were not making money that would hurt them in the long run. The government never forced anyone to get a college degree and take out student loans that was The choice of the individual to go to college and take out debt. It was not the business owner choice to shut down. Yes republicans are going to take and advantage of it at least the ones that went to college but most are just getting screwed by the government, is the government didn’t help for those business bail outs we wouldn’t have even a shitty economy like we have today the economy would simply not exist we would be in a Civil War at this point. Student debt have been around for decades it’s not going to cause a civil war. No food no income in a society you got a total collapse and war on your hands

Yea, because it make sense government come in says “you can’t run your business which you need to make money to survive” then of course it is the government’s responsibility to compensate business in order for the people to survive. (Obviously big corporations like Amazon google Walmart don’t need a bail out”. But your local mom and pop business needs to make money they need to pay rent they need to buy more products to sell and they need to make money to pay there employees.

You got a individual who chose to go to college if you didn’t go into a stem field or medical field or law your but go into something like ethnic studies religious studies or history or politics science or music your only choice is really to go into teaching. Which isn’t going to pay you enough to pay off your student loans it would be better to not even offer degrees in these subjects rather then have people go into school and get into major debt. But again no one forced someone to go to college and take out a shit ton of loans for a degree that’s not going to get them work, And the government didn’t come in and say you can’t get an education why do you think private loans aren’t given out to people going into the liberal arts? Because the banks know there not going to get paid back the government gives out student loans for degrees there never going to get paid back for it’s actually a really corrupt education system

Probably because the government forced business to stop or diminish business activity so they owed them some sort of help. But the government already has helped college students by lending them ridiculous amounts of money at favorable terms. They don't need additional help. Nobody forced some of them to squander their advantages by borrowing half a mil to get a useless degree and then they decide to worn at Starbucks because they don't want to use their art degree working in advertising for an "evil" corporation.

I think that's what happens if you get a degree in something kinda useless or decide you don't want to use it. In my experience that's true. I personally know a handful of people that fit my description. I myself have a degree and I did it as budget as possible and paid it off and then I worked in a high paying job afterwards. So why would someone who does that need any help? I don't get it.

It's the crabs in a bucket complex. I think they envy those who are getting some relief from the cultural expectation and career necessity of attending college. Which the cost of has increased drastically in the past decades in the face of high demand. They don't want to see others get ahead as easily/less strenuously as they would without debt relief.

Simple answer:

The Covid shut downs were government ordered, so they "took" the livelihood of people and were ethically responsible for replacing it. It was also authorized by Congress, which has power over the appropriation of money.

Student loans were voluntarily agreed to, and Mr. Biden unilaterally issued the forgiveness, without the required authorization from Congress.

Yes, but that was not the point. In the US the shutdowns were government ordered. Whether deemed necessary or not, they took the financial support system away from most people by decree. Congress then authorized and the president signed legislation authorizing payments.

Student loans, on the other hand, were taken voluntarily. Also, Congress has not passed legislation to fund forgiveness. Mr. Biden does not have the authority to unilaterally authorize the funds for this, or if it had been granted somewhere I have not seen the legislation.
