Adam Smith’s economic theory of the invisible hand is usually the best way to go. The only danger are monopolies that crush all competition and remain stale in innovation themselves.

The government more often than only screws up things more when they try to interfere with natural cycles of the economy.

However emergencies are different. The covid pandemic was an artificial recession and when the government drives a ford 150 through your living room it owes you compensation. But of course not everybody had their businesses destroyed by the pandemic but they still wanted undeserved handouts (along with fraud) which contributed to skyrocketing inflation.

Anyway since the existing administration is very out of touch with most Americans care about right now: inflation and the economy. They pushed through all sorts of horribly timed ridiculous crap (infrastructure bills, “renewable energy”, etc) most people do not give a damn about. Most Americans are worried about being able to put food on the table and keeping a decent paying job right now. If the Biden administration would of just GOT OUT OF THE WAY our economy would of boomed not receded. The pandemic ended and people were going back to work, getting out and traveling again. But nooo…. Biden had to push through tons of progressive backward legislation screwing everything up.

Yeah, i agree “ish”. I think the keynsian model works well too. We don’t have to use just one strategy. We have a govt of socialist programs and pro capitalist programs.

@OddBeMe. Just a fyi I believe in climate change and humanity needs to invest more in research and development of clean energy.

But it needs to WORK. Also you can’t destroy the current economy pursuing an abrupt change.

Anyway people create jobs via enterprise not the government. We need to encourage business development and growth to get the economy going again. Just my two cents.

@goaded: You need to update your propaganda. House Majority Whip James Clyburn says that Congress knew their overspending would create inflation. And obviously the Biden Administration’s deliberate efforts to raise energy prices through policy and regulation has onbviously caused a lot of inflation as well. So did the rock-bottom interest rates of 2020-21.

I'm not saying it's the only reason for inflation, but the pandemic, its associated economic slump, supply chain issues, and the war together make up less than half. Corporate greed has doubled it, using real inflation as cover.

Just out of interest, can you tell me what Republican policies will reduce inflation if they take over congress?

@goaded: You need to provide sources that back up your claim of doubled profits and show that higher profits are due not to 1) inflation 2) capital investments made in previous years bearing fruit 3) accounting factors like depreciation, tax credits and tax write-offs 4) changes in demand for its products

Furthermore, Shell is only one company. Why not show data for the entire industry and rule out the factors I mentioned above? If you don’t, you have something to hide.

And your beloved Biden Administration’s war on fossil fuels industries, including trying to prevent it from obtaining financing at the levels it wants, is bound to cause inflation throughout the economy.

@goaded; Given your long paper trail of misrepresentations and distortions, you need to provide more specific information than vague innuendo, including what that legislation has to do with additional red tape. You need to provide the name or USC reference for the legislation you're vaguely referring to and explain exactly what was in that legislation.

Hurricane Sandy was 10 years ago. And members of Congress have a habit of deliberately slipping unrelated matters into legislation that may make the legislation unpalatable. Your answer needs to take into consideration whether that is the case.
