How come the murder of a pregnant woman is a double murder?

In states that allow abortion it’s still a double murder to kill a pregnant woman.

Can someone explain why because this seems inconsistent

Because depending on how far along the pregnancy is, the child may have had a chance to survive if there was adequate time for an emergency c section.

Abortion typically occurs before the child is able to survive outside of the womb. Babies can usually survive after 20 weeks. Really depends on the state law of what constitutes as a viable pregnancy for double homicide. As well as if the mother actually wanted that child or had planned to abort.

It's extremely stupid. It makes no sense. It's like being in one of those states, and a drinking establishment won't serve booze to a pregnant woman. Why not? Her body and her choice, right?

Again, I agree with you. But the abortion issue is about as dumb as Coke vs Pepsi, Ford vs Chevrolet, or Honda vs Yamaha. My car is a Chevy, and my scooter is a Honda. Debating isn't going to change that. I totally get your point, but we really can't do anything about it.

It is inconsistent, but I'm guessing the legal interpretation goes something like this.

In an abortion, the woman is making a conscious health decision for her body, which liberals allow, while murdering a pregnant woman takes two lives, the mother and the fetus; to liberals, murder is wrong.
