There are only two things that Republicans and Democrats agree on.  1. No term limits 2. Being able to vote your own pay raise.

The voters agree on nearly everything, actually. The problem is republican leaders have created division, because if they didn't they know republican voters would agree with democrats not to give the rich all their money, which is the only thing republican leaders ever actually do. Indeed, if the rich just suddenly decided to pay their taxes the republican party would dissolve overnight, as all the money rich spend on keeping people divided enough to vote republican would be pulled out and all the right wing media personalites would have to find another job.

When a person values money above all else they want to believe that they dont have to depend on anyone else to get it. Paying debts and paying taxes is literal Hell to them. It is like sustenance or pooping when they want to believe themselves to be a spirit. They absolutely haaaate the constant reminder that they are financially mortal and however high they rise they still have to stand on something. And the thing about paying to prop up right wing media is that, on the surface, it's optional. They can stop any time they want. This is not the case with debt and taxes.

And so, they divide. There are pretty much infinite examples, and yes left wing media certianly participates, but the left tends to do it for clicks because no one is watching left wing media and they rely on that for ad revenue. Right wing media doesn't need to worry about revenue, their entire purpose is to push division. This is why you'll never see any serious effort by right wing media to stop its viewers from engaging in political violence. They may not want political violence (though I'm personally convinced that they do) but political violence is ultimately just division, and that's the direction they're supposed to be going. Asking them to do something about it would be like asking a pilot who is flying a plane with the controls stuck, zooming at top speed towards a mountain peak to suddenly become a land developer and move the peak out of the way. They can't. It would be physically impossible for Carlson or Rogan to convince their audience to avoid and denounce all hint and suggestions of political violence.

But probably my favorite example of forced division is the Trans thing. Before it became anything the right talked about, there was pretty much nationwide agreement that we should do something about the bullying of Trans people. But right wing media saw an opportunity and stepped in to make sure every Trans discussions be discussions about women's sports, children's bathrooms, child rape, child mutilation, and so on. Anything other than what we'd agree on. And despite being largely made up that gives a visceral joy and rage to right wing viewers (which was the whole point - keeping them too mad to think) but it does nothing at all about the bullying.
