Why does society discriminate against single people by making us pay more in taxes, more in insurance and we also get paid less at the same time too?

I've said this for awhile, that they want to discriminate with taxes. Hence why I fully support the flat tax.
No deductions of any kind, this is one thing I loved about what Trump was trying to do.
There is a guy at my work that makes the exact same amount as I do, but he gets money back from the government each year, and I pay it in. The joke is, he is getting back what I paid in... wealth transfer.
Difference is, he is married and has six kids... I was single in my filing.
The government and those who pass the laws are trying to force social changes when they offer deductions. Same reason they offer benefits for things like buying an electric car.
They use the tax code to reward some and punish others, since passing laws to require certain things would not make it past the courts.
This is one reason they the tax code is so messed up and discriminates so much.
Plus add to the mix that many people (parents for example) love that they get to pay less by making a choice to have children.
Flat percentage based tax is the way to go, if we want to be fair and stop discrimination. Zero deductions for anything, but oh no that will remove some government control to try and make us do stuff.
A flat tax would also take a lot of privileges away from trillion dollar businesses. And goodness knows the companies that own this country and us can’t have that.
@Sixgunsound Right, all the incentives they get to do this or that, lowers their taxes. Having a minimum corporate tax, means the government loses its power over them when they are like, naw... we already got down to the minimum level so what you want us to do, no benefit.
Democrats themselves were opposed to the minimum tax because of that very reason... the party that claims they don't pay enough in taxes.
The Democrat party has never been for the common man. It went from being the party for the people who could afford slaves to the party for the people who could afford plantations without slaves, to the party of managers, bosses and shop stewards, who were already wealthy and privileged, but had an in with the little guy for the purpose of convincing them to vote Democrat.
Thanks for MHO and I forgot to say anything about health insurance too, but your right.
My work, you have a single person amount deducted from paychecks, or a couple, married or living together, etc... then family. Family can include 11 kids and the family rate is not much more than the two rate, which is not much more than the single rate.
It is like the single people are carrying the ones with a boat loads of kids, because we are... I've always thought the rates should be based on number of people on the policy.
Why should someone married with one child pay the exact same amount as someone with 20 kids?
No wonder premiums go up every year.
The state wants you to marry and set children in this world, cause the newer population is getting less and less.
There is this population diagram pyramid thing, that shows that we have more elderly people and less younger generations and I could tell you way more but to keep it short, this simply means there is less younger generations aka less workers aka less tax payers aka you name it.
Also like here I have to pay monthly 0,35% more of this unemployment social security thing, just because I'm over 25 and childless
*oh sorry, it's the care insurance thing, I mixed them up.. and from your monthly salary, to add
Countries that have social security or social benefit Ponzi schemes need to keep recruiting more suckers into the bottom of the pyramid to pay for the beneficiaries on the top. Less suckers coming in means they’re gonna have to tell the people of the top. Sorry but you fell for it and oh well. This is one of the many reasons I continually speak up against welfare states.
You're not discriminated against, you only pay less in taxes if you have a dependent spouse. If your spouse has a job then they have to pay taxes on that too. Having a dependent with no job would cost you more money than the amount you would save on taxes.
A stay at home wife is a thousand times more expensive than the tiny amount you save when filing taxes jointly.
Just off-set your taxes like an adult by purchasing stocks and an IRA.
The government punishes you for being single because they have less hard controls on you which give them less means of dominating and enslaving you.
Thanks for MHO

Because traditionally society encouraged and promoted things that contributed to the long term stability of society. Too many singles means less fathers in homes. Stats say that 85% of the people in prison come form fatherless homes (single mom is running the show). Broken homes are bad for society.
Also, I'm pretty sure that the vast majority of women have zero interest in working 60+ hours/week for years and/or working in a boring job. Lots of dudes do that so naturally they get further in a career, faster and make more money sooner. Men and women are not the same, no matter how many feminists try to convince you otherwise.
Well stated.
Single people without kids making the exact same money are taxed more. The system is unfair. It is actually the single childless people that are paying the taxes for other people's kids to go through school. People with kids making the exact same money will get much more tax deductions and possibly earned income credit while the single person doing the same job is punished for being responsible.
Actually not having children is irresponsible by natures law. Every woman and man should have child as those are by nature the ones who take care of you at old age. Once there are no more homes for the elderly you will understand why its important to have children.
You've got a lot of confounding variables going on in there (for example, more successful men make more money (obviously!) and therefore they're more desirable to women and more likely to be married than less successful men who are single).
But something that's directly relevant to why it makes sense to tax single people more heavily is that they are more likely to be a drain on society (single men more likely than anyone to end up in prison or generally to be anti-social douchebags, single women most likely to end up on welfare with train-wrecks for kids). Lastly, for single people who aren't drags on society that way, they are also less likely than married people to have kids and therefore they aren't contributing to their future social security benefits (those kids will be taxed to pay for the benefits of the oldies!) so they should pay up now.
That's why single people pay more in taxes.
I was surprised to find out that when I got married my tax rate increased, not the other way around.
I can't see that the cost of any kind of insurance is higher for singles, and as for your wage chart, I just don't see it as being realistic.
There may be a correlation between age and wages, but that I chalk up to being due to the level of experience and the also possibility of greater ambition by a married person, but not by marital status alone.
Because if people, employers and even your own family can't stand you to pay you more, then might as well squeeze more out your worthless existence for the state...
More seriously, though. Being tax stupid is why single people pay more taxes than they need to. Most single people tend to be young people who do not have experience with the tax breaks and employment benefits they can enjoy.
It’s not that it’s that women in general earn less and married men earn a lot more. Assuming that chart is accurate. I mean I know for a fact women get paid less but I’m not sure about the married men thing. What about divorced men?
Divorced men go broke and might make less than single men for a while
Not my experience based on my parents divorce, but ok
Also not my experience with my parents divorce but another good reason to not jump into marriages
I get paid less lol
I do! In fact I earn the exact same like the woman at the reception and the only man here, who has the same qualification like me earns 200€ more. I even have since this month a better qualification and I didn't get a salary upgrade, so I'm leaving
Interesting. I’d have to get into actual numbers. But off the top it may appear that way. But married people file jointly, live together etc. Lots of tax benefits. And the govt offers those benefits because married people make a populace more productive.
Ultimately I think our fight is with parents. I’m married but childless. BUT you and I pay more because of child tax credits, work harder because parents get out of work easier, etc…
This an argument for same sex marriage... find a best friend of yours and get married so you can pay less in taxes. Date other women and when you find a woman you can divorce each other rather cheaply and easily as long as your freinds.
Misery loves company. If they can’t trick us into getting married and being miserable like them, then they’ll do their best to punish us in other ways.
Yes, it's a whole orchestrated thing. They, whoever they are, decided single people had to suffer. Just cuz.
You don't pay more in taxes. Married tax tables are for two incomes, you can't compare them to a single income.
In the US, you get a tax benefit for being married. Try doing taxes filing married, vs. single but married. You'll pay more if you file single but married.
The married filing jointly tax brackets are considered to be among the most favorable. You might actually find yourself in a lower tax bracket overall by filing jointly if you’re married.
For example, you and your spouse might jointly earn $130,000 annually. This puts you in the 22% tax bracket for 2020. You’d fall into the 24% bracket on an income of $130,000 if you weren’t married and filed a single return—a 2% difference.
The total income amount here is 130k, if one person makes it and files single, they pay 2% more than if two people make a combined total of 130k in income. Thus being married lets them pay 2% less in federal income taxes when they file jointly.
Different tax tables for married vs. single status rather than simply based off income is why.
IKR... Have to work a second under table job, like a bar, to balance the "unfair practices" out...
Married men *have* to work hard and earn more money to fund the lifestyle of their dependents. They also pay more tax.
Your wanna earn more but not get married? You go girl?
lol, are you trying the same bs wage gap stuff as feminists do?
Yeah why
Because it's just as stupid.
Read about how Rockefeller set things up 100 years ago.
Yeah I feel singled out because of that but I don’t get paid less but less after taxes
It's single people in general. Get married, get a tax break. Have a kid, get a tax break.
Because tye liberal society want people breeding more kids for them to molest
Single people pay more for insurance?
Yeah bro
Agree 👍
