Women do you support men getting the same mandates time off as women do for babies?

I feel it’s sexist. I think a man needs to also be a major part of his child’s life. It would also cut down on discrimination of young women. Because they know men have the same.

Also…. I feel many women would appreciate the extra help as well. Not doing it all on her own.

I think men and women should support this. This benefits both sexes. Plus who doesn’t want time out of work to be with their family?

Yes! I think men and women both need paid maternity leave to spend time with their baby. After birth, mom will need some rest and dad can take that time to spend with their baby. I think it's wrong for companies to punish people for having children, we shouldn't have to use up all our pto and sick leave just keep money flowing I while we take that time off. American businesses/corporations are extremely anti family these days.

I like the idea, but realistically it would likely only lead to companies taking preference in single men over married men. The best thing to do, just as it is for women, is to find a company that is already happy and willing to provide such family benefits rather than working for a place where it is forced and unhappy about it.

They can already prefer single women over married women. Plus long term employees will probably get married and have kids at some point

Personally, I'm not into this idea at all. The family still needs to be supported and these are the types if sacrifices you make when you form a family.
I can guarantee you that any money spent on maternity or paternity leave won't help pay the bills and many things having a child, let alone an infant, requires.
Because my SO is working while I'm at home with the child doesn't mean he doesn't care for the child. Men and women, when a baby is involved, make sacrifices, but different types of sacrifices that complement one another.

As far as companies are concerned, if I were running one, there's a limit to how much time I would give to the father (maybe a week or two) - that's just how it is - their pay would be cut because they aren't actually producing anything when gone, so why pay them as though they were. I would expect the same kind of pay cut for a woman on maternity leave. As a business owner, I need my business to keep going, need productivity to keep going.

I think this proposal is wishful thinking, shortsighted, idealistic and in the long run doesn't help.

Employers have to pay for maternity leave I’m pretty sure the same amount as if they were working.

It’s really unfair. Men have a major part in their children libes. It’s also hard for women to do it alone.

The man being out there working to sustain the family when the woman is at home IS being part of the child's life.

But I have a question. In your mind, do you see a man working non-stop, never home and never able to spend time with his family?
