Should women get paid maternity leave?

Why should women get paid maternity leave? Why do they get extra free paid time off just for having a kid that they can have pretty much every year. Why is there no limit on this why can't people just have an extra two three months vacation every year some places even get 6 months.

What about the people who don't have kids why don't they get an extra six months paid vacation every year? Why do the people who don't have the kids have to work more to make up for the difference for a lazy parent to stay at home with their crotch fruit?

So Paid maternity leave just gives people who don't deserve time off more time off is insanely easy to abuse and the people not abusing it get severely punished with more work.

Maternity leave attracts employees to an organization. They get great employees for most of that employee's life, and they pay that employee for maternity leave for only a few months that entire 20 years. It costs more to manage a high turnover rate than it does to pay a percentage of a woman's pay while she's caring for her newborn. It works put better for the employer.

Just so you know, I work in HR and there is data from my company to back that up. We've existed for 76 years now, and we are a healthcare system so we're mostly women. We've saved money now that we've increased our paid maternity leave length. Something else we've done is raise our minimum wage, and this is (believe it or not) saving us a LOT of money in areas like orientation, flu shots, drug tests, background checks, etc...

Long story short, paid maternity leave saves money in the long run.

It's better for all companies. Maternity leave doesn't pay a full salary anyway, its anywhere between 40% and 70% by my knowledge (my company is 60% for the first 8 weeks and 40% thereafter, but all that is coming from vacation time. They do 40% so you can use the same amount of vacation time for more days, but they're not losing money on that).

We should not limit reproduction, it's a right to reproduce. Hiring a temp to fill in for the person on maternity is still cheaper than dealing with a high turnover rate.

Companies with fewer than 20 employees I think dont have to worry about paid maternity leave, they're exempt from that. The company I work for has nearly 30,000 employees though so we have to.

And reproducing is not a right if you cannot take care of the kid you should not be allowed to have it and be forced to be sterilized

5. If they don't get maternity leave, they'd get other social benefits so why not let the employer pay for it instead of the state? Most can effort it easily. And only if they don't the state will pay for the maternity leave.
6. It makes going back into work life much easier for the parents cause they don't get fired for taking some time off

How would that increase the cost for 40 percent? Where I'm from the average birthrate is 1.4 children per family. So the company pays for about 1-2 maternity leaves per women. If she is employed before her pregnancy. If not, she obviously won't get money. So the company actually pays even less than 1-2 maternity leaves per women. So for an average work life of about 40 years, that would be 1 year of maternity leave the employer had to pay for. (6 months leave for 2 children) so how do you get that ridiculous number? 40% more is bullshit

Actually it was all because of complications during the birth itself that we fix with our modern medicine after the birth the mother's life is pretty save the child's life is pretty guaranteed after 2 years. Anyways the hosptial usally keeps you in for a couple days anyways after the birth. So they wouldn't be able to get back to work right after. As they also would have to go home and take of their baby. Along with it works differently in other states. Some require you to work up to 26 weeks to 15th weeks before the babies due date to have the maternity leave as an agreement to make up missing work days. In the end, they are paying up the missing work days with in some states in 12 weeks

And I find the practice of unpaid medical leave reprehensible when it's for something serious, like a cancer diagnosis. The patient is already worried about whether on not they'll live. And then they might not get paid while they're out. Not to mention that other factors like their families are probably weighing on their minds, too. The fact that these laws have to exist in the first place should be a shock to the conscious, because employers used to just terminate employees and automatically garnish all of their unused sick and vacation time when they needed medical leave.

Medical leave is usually something everyone is paying into, anyway (i. e. unemployment taxes). It's also usually paid for by an insurance company, not the individual employer.

I think that's a step in the right direction. I also think anyone on long-term medical leave should have terms for the leave being paid.

People with cancer diagnosis' sometimes have to work in-between treatments. A new parent can't do that: not just possibly for their own physical ability, but a new baby needs 24 / 7 monitoring. It is not reasonable for a parent to leave a newborn's side for the child's first few months.
