How to explain Maternity+ Parental leave gap on the job resume?

Anonymous
Hi community,

TLDR: Got pregnant before starting new job. New employer has made it clear that I have no future in the company. How should I explain the current gap on my resume for new Job application?

Details:
Currently I am 38 weeks pregnant and waiting for our bundle to arrive.

> In June 2023, I had applied for a job and received final offer at the beginning of July. The job start was in November 2023.

> I accepted the new position and gave notice to my previous employer immediately in July.

> Beginning of August 2023, I found out that I was pregnant (due to my health issues, being pregnant was rather unexpected for us).

> I informed my new employer about my pregnancy in September.
> After a long period of silence from the new employer, I heard back in the middle of October. The new employer wanted me to quit my position due to pregnancy. However, being in Germany, I am protected under law and did not give in to the demand.
> So I was given full paid 'no work obligation' from my new employer since the work conditions were quite demanding for a pregnant woman.
> But during the discussions with my new employer, it was clear that even if I am willing to do desk duty/alternate position or continue my original position soon after giving birth, the employer simply wanted me gone.

The discussions were quite hostile. And I was able to get maternity benefits simply due to the law.

> Now that I have some time before the baby arrives and it's rather clear that I have no future in the company, I am preparing to apply for a new job.

My question (after a long explanation ;) ) is that, how do I explain the situation on my resume and in the interview. It would be quite unusual to say I simply quit my existing job due to pregnancy ( and left all benefits).

Thank you very much for any helpful suggestions.
