Why is it that its overwhelmingly women that support the destruction of free speech?

Before you get your panties in a twist, no this is not spamming or trolling. I absolutely want to know why women see the need to criminalize speech they dont like. This question comes from another question where the GAG member asked if hate speech should be criminalized. Almost 100% of the votes who said hate-speech should be criminalized are women. And lets not mince words here. If what they define as hate speech (any speech that hurts their feelings) is banned it literally means the destruction of freedom of speech. Here is why. If it was applied fairly (which it would not be) hundreds of not thousands of leftists would also suddenly be criminals. Not just the right wing.

Let me make this completely clear. You do not have the right to not be offended. You dont have the right to be respected. Speech of any kind does no harm beyond hurting feelings, unless its people suggesting people get violent. If you start criminalizing speech BLM and Antifa as well as some on the right would both be facing prison time.

Here is the other issue with that. Who is to say what hate speech is? Its purely subjective. Meaning one persons hate speech is another persons free speech. Criminalizing speech is stupidity at best, and a human rights violation at worst.

I completely agree with you. This anti-free speech movement is stifling. You can't as much as respectfully disagree with someone over the hot topics these days without getting called a racist transphobic flat-earther or something. But these people are allowed to hate you all they want with no pushback.

I think lots of it comes from fear and not genuine agreement. No one wants to get canceled, or have their social media pages full of demands for apologies no one needs and then maybe a suicide note.

Follow the flock and stay safe. I think that's been a mindset in all political things in the past with consequences for the opposers. The Nazi rising. Every war in history. Not showing support and being a cheerleader for the 'cause' is dangerous.🤷‍♀️

Why do you think it should be criminalized? What happens if those in charge of the hate speech laws choose to classify things you say as hate speech? Because in my opinion suggesting freedom of speech should end is hate speech. Also, if you want to reply you will need to deanonymize.
