Why are so many women on here anti-feminist?

This is really surprising and slightly concerning to me as a woman. Feminism is a movement that is supposed to create equality in society between genders and intersections with race, to create a society where we can all take advantage of the same rights and strive at the same pace.

Do you guys not think that is necessary anymore and that we're there already, or do you think that that's not what the movement is about anymore?

I feel like there are still so many issues in our society that affect women disproportionately, like wage inequality, lack of employment opportunities within many sectors, objectification, harassment at the workplace, things like childcare fall on women despite them being full-time workers, we still don't have equal political and media representation, it's now coming out that women have been giving up opportunities in the entertainment industry for decades after being harassed and assaulted by men, and so on. Do you feel like all of these are not actually issues or that feminism isn't covering them sufficiently?

Could you also state if you actually had experience in the professional workforce and where you guys are from? Because I feel like that might also play into it.

Feminism is a hate group. It lies to naive young girls and makes them believe they are victims of a fake monster. Telling these girls that they are fighting for "equality" yet their actions are nothing but the opposite. They then try and cover up these horrible things by claiming there is a subsection of feminist ("femnazis") which is complete bullshit. The ideology supports, studies, and idolizes all the same man hating feminist. They all make the same bullshit claims (1 in 4 rape lie, wage gap lie, etc.)
They use actual 3rd world female issues as their scapegoat because they don't actually have any real issues here in the west.

We women in the west are MORE privileged that any male.
- Women do NOT make less for EQUAL work. PERIOD!
- Child care does not "fall on women", women actually have 100% parental rights and men have none.
- the media is geared towards us, we have more than equal representation in the media (unless you are cherry picking to make a claim)
- Politics doesn't equally represent us because less women are interested in politics in general. That claim is like bitching about less men being in nursing or child care. Although those fields actually do negatively discriminate against males.
- The newest "hollywood" witch hunt against any males isn't "proof" of anything except the basic idea that men use power to get sex and women use sex to get power. These women didn't have any issue with using the idea of sexual interest to get themselves work, they are only now jumping on the bandwagon because it's moving into view.
No one mentions the time Jenny McCarty groped and mauled an underage Justin Beiber on stage or Madonna's constant young male fetish. When we ignore all forms of female sexual aggression, it's easy to say it's a female issue.
EVERY thin a feminist claims can be easily proven bullshit when you take 5 seconds and do research.
The list of issues males have is actually much larger and legitimate.

Because we already achieved equality, and then radical extremists took it too far. And now it's become a movement of superiority over men.

And you have to admit that the term itself is unequal, as it promotes just one gender.

I earn more money than my boyfriend working less than half hours, doing less than half the work, and with no special training; I would earn as much as men in my field, if there were any. The wage gap is a myth.

There is no "rape culture", and I say this as a rape victim. I was assaulted by men that I had known well for years, and trusted. This tracks with actual statistics that confirm rapes are usually committed by someone you know, and these rapes are reported less often.

Men aren't getting better treatment, not anymore. They're so afraid of offending and pissing off women who might accuse them of harassment and assault, that many of them just step aside, and then we wonder where are the "real" men have gone.

Do you enjoy movies like "Magic Mike"? That's objectification of the male body and male sexuality. They're victims too.

QThose women who traded favors for higher positions aren't victims. They knew what they were doing was wrong, and did it anyways. And you can't sit there and use crimes from the past as justification for today. Those women are only speaking out now because we do have equality now, and it's exactly what is giving them a voice.

Men can be stay at home fathers, if they can get past women calling then lazy, weak, or not a "real" man for making his woman earn all the money.

I think anyone who truly stands for real equality, shouldn't use a term based on a single gender.

I am a true feminist, but I'm not considered a feminist by many people because I don't fit others' definition. I believe in equality for men and women. I believe in the same opportunities for both men and women. And in many aspects men and women do have the same opportunities. There are some things that still need working on, but on the same token, men are often not afforded some of the equality they have a right to as well. Modern feminism, however, is viewed by a lot of women not as feminism but misandry, which means the same same as misogyny but women being hateful towards men. (All men are pigs, rapists, misogynists, etc. All men should die. So on and so forth) These misandrists are also known as feminazis in some groups and have become the face of the feminist movement. When most people think of feminists anymore, they think of the man-hating women that force their ideals and sexuality down the throats of everyone they can. This is why I'm not part of the feminist movement. I condemn the acts of these hate-mongers and believe they should be just as socially condemned and shunned as misogynists. Sexism is sexism. It doesn't matter what gender you are. It's only equal.

I think it is getting more and more extreme. You see this a lot in causes that start off with legit and righteous goals... but then once the goals are ACHIEVED and the movement has served its purpose, instead of going away it tries to cling on to life and it tries to make up more and more obscure things to be "outraged" about.

Women have already reached equality. The goal has been achieved. The cause doesn't end and go away though, more and more fringe women keep searching for new things to be enraged over. A woman living in a Western nation is blessed and has a life full of opportunities. You can work in politics, own businesses, be pilots, be an astronaut, be a scientist, race cars, be a professional athlete, you make awesome money, the exact same as a guy if you have the same education and experience and work as long as the guy does, you can raise a family you can even curse and sleep around just like the guys now.

Many just don't buy the spiel anymore that women in Western countries are oppressed and there are all of these wrongs in our laws that have to be fixed.

Just because Hillary lost the election doesn't "prove" it is some sexist country, it proves women can be president... you just need a good candidate. She was an awful candidate. There is a loser in EVERY election, you can't lose an election... a close election and call that sexism against women.

Equality has been reached. Women have the same opportunities to do everything men can do... even in places they aren't usually called for like a front line combat soldier or a firefighter. These aren't positions that usually have a high demand for a 5'4" person who weighs 120 pounds. Those are the runts that usually get weeded out with men but in this country they even get to be firefighters and combat, infantry soldiers.

The battle is basically over. The hardcore feminists aren't ready to move on with their lives, they are still screaming to prove all of these feminist rallies and causes are still needed when they aren't.

I think ever since the 70s feminism became part of the counter culture. The evangelical right came to the forefront with roe v wade as that same time. And now with media sensationalism and smear campaigns people see feminism as anti Christian. Not to mention that a lot of men don't want the status qo to change cause that means they will have to give up some power. People don't admit these things openly but they are the driving force. We are better than most countries but still not the best and we need to do more to oppose inequality globally.
I get very disheartened the way I hear male co-workers talk about women. They are either immediately sexualized or dehumanized if they have a different opinion

People are starting to realize that modern day feminism (third wave feminism) has strayed from it’s original cause. Feminism hitherto the 1990s which went by different names was a true civil rights movement. However, ever since the late 2000’s it has gone from a true civil rights movement to a gynocentric and misandrist movement which defiles it’s original cause. While women's emancipation sounds a fair advocacy in theory, female feminists approach this by comparing their standing in society to that of males, making it seem that everything is a competition.

Want my privilege? I'll gladly trade, even if it means giving up my male body and mind. When feminists get a taste of total equality, they hate it, and for good reason as many men get the short end now that 3rd wave feminism is running rampant. Like I said, I would trade any day.

Theory is not always reality, feminism in the beginning when women had no right to own property or vote was badly needed and men in office voted to give women right to vote.

Now that you and I are equal in the law (any advantage is more likely on you than me now), demanding equality even if that would be fair is only possible by stripping others rights to choose what they do and who they do it with, something I will never support because yes you do have the right to be a jerk and not have the state come with guns to stop you, anything else even if it starts good will always lead to tyranny because power will corrupt and encourage corrupt to steal it from non corrupt.

If the wage gap were due to discrimination and not meritocracy such as hours total, availibility off duty, and ability to produce, then women would be hired much more than men as men would be considered too expensive when a woman can do the job cheaper. Think about it, it's true. Why buy a coffee for 1 dollar when a girl makes the same quality drink for 97 cents?

Some job discrepancy is due to choice, given the choice, most women won't pick engineering or choose to be on call 24/7 as often as men will, that's not bad it's just biology, we were designed with different pros and cons that compliment perfectly. Why would you force a woman to work harder than she wants in a field she is less likely to be interested in? That would be more unfair than letting her choose to be a teacher or care giver or other more interesting to her profession.

Men are better at dying, we get forced to sign up for the draft, you don't, we also take riskier jobs and pay with our lives, we do this so our wives have the money and time to care for the children because it's them that matter not us and our pitiful and divisive obsession with equality of outcome.

It matters not the equality of outcome but equality of opportunity, that's what matters and feminist policies like affirmative action harm this by crippling men to help women and benefits neither in the end.

Something like... 20% of women self identify as feminists. There has never been a majority of women who are feminist.
The fact that it is disturbing to you speak volumes about your own preconceptions. It suggests to me that you see any assault on feminism as an assault on women, and you are wondering, basically, why so many women have "internalized misogyny."

Simply put? Being anti-feminist is not the same as being anti-woman, and feminism is not the only ideology that exists that seeks to benefit women.

Why do I think feminism is anti-man?
Because when a study comes out and says "25% of the homeless are women," it is treated as if this is a huge problem that needs to be fixed...
What about the 75% that are men? Why is it treated as if homeless WOMEN are the problem, and not homelessness?

When crime statistics prove that about 45% of domestic abuse victims are men, but there are, and say it with me now, ZERO officially recognized domestic abuse shelters for me? That is an issue. When men who call abuse assistance helplines are told "we do not help men" and are hung up on? That's an issue. When a man in Canada tried to make a domestic abuse shelter, paid for it out of his own pocket, was attacked and maligned by media and the government, was forced to close down, and then committed suicide? That suggests an anti-male bias to me, just by suggesting men can't be victims.

Women are more than 60% of college graduates. Yet they still get affirmative action to get them in, as well as gender specific scholarships. There is no gender-specific male scholarship for men, and the few people have tried to establish have been destroyed. Oh, and in some places, where male under performance has led to the consideration of expanding affirmative action to men for college enrollment, because they are now the underrepresented minority?
Feminist groups have responded by calling for an abolition of affirmative action.

Because men are the OVERWHELMING majority of suicide victims, and yet a "international men's day" to bring male-specific issues to light is under endless attack, and female politicians have openly laughed at the idea male suicide needs to be addressed.

Because feminists say "we care about men's issues too, and men need to be encouraged to speak about their feelings. holding everything in is how the patriarchy harms me!"

@ADFSDF1996 pretty much covered everything, but the only thing I would like to add is that if people, men and women, truly believe in equality, then fight for "Equality." You don't need trends, brands or to join the currently popular movement in order to feel like you're part of a group.

If something doesn't feel right or fair, challenge it, fight for what YOU believe in, not what others tell you you should believe in.

We don't need "Feminism" we need "Equality."

And Equality will always be a stronger word and a stronger movement than Feminism or whatever other cockamamie movement someone else makes up later down the road. Equality is for everybody and everybody should fight for it. You don't need some other movement to follow in its shadow as if it will do a better job.

There is plenty of equality to fight for for both genders, some things benefit men more than women and there are other things that benefit women more than men. I don't need to split hairs and list every single example of what each gender faces in society because it's all well documented and rehashed over and over again. I am also not going to claim that one has it worse than the other.

We can all agree that there are things that can be improved for both genders, so rather than defending Feminism or arguing it's definition today, and rather than finger pointing at each other as sexist pigs or feminazis, etc. Wouldn't it just be simpler and more effective to focus on each specific problem and fix them one at a time rather than slapping a brand on all of the problems and magically hoping everybody supports and believes in that brand to the point where everything magically fixes itself?

It's not going to happen either by logic or out of spite.

I was raised by both my parents to treat others as I would want to be treated. I try to hold true to this as a personal principle and for my own self respect. I don't need Feminism and I don't need to support Feminism for my own beliefs to stay true.

And women don't see feminism either. Again, if you want equality then fight for it. Find the specific issues that affect you directly and fight for change and improve those issues. You will get far better results doing that compared to simply shouting "FEMINISM!" in some random protest.

Lets look at the anti men part first.
Feminism is by definition not for equality due to there very nature as they strive for womens rights. You mentioned it pro women which shows its deeply routed issues. Feminism is not helping women, its harming men. Women are typically given more rights, men are being stripped of there own. The gender wages for example should not be equalized with quotas because all that does is create sotuations where despite the fact the male is more qualified (In this example) the female will be picked over him. Which creates a number of issues. The first is an obvious discrimination towards men because the women is artificially picked over him. The second issue is that she is now enslaved to feminism because she could not have done this on there own. The third being she will be potentially disliked by her colleages because she potentially isn't qualified enough. So in a scenario where the women is not qualified but artificially helped you benefit nobody. As far as wages go your hurting men by deliberately discriminating against our oppertunity to get better wages.

This leads me to the second part, you are hurting women. Feminism thinks women should naturally be hard working part time moms who should not go out of there way to have sex. Otherwise your only explenation is that she must have deep issues. Fuck you for that opinion. Women are individuals, and individuals should have a right to choose there own path and lifestyle without you condemming them for it. If a girl wants to fuck 100 men she doesn't have some sort of self harn disorder she just enjoys sex and has chosen to embrace it and enjoy it. As long as she thought about potential risks and made a well thought choice she should be able to do anything lawfull without us condemming her for it.

Alright so the above mentioned attitude doesn't apply to all feminists and the entire movement but even if your just striving for quotas and wages you are hurting women as you are enslaving them, robbing there chance to fail and grow so they become dependend on your movement.

If you truly want to help you should do things that benefit everyone including your enemies. Only then do you create true equality. If you want to increase women pay teach them how to negotiate better. But stop screwing over a working system or people will hate your oppression.

The reason why men are against it other then the very obvious near constant demonization of men in all aspects of existence is that statistically men are suffering in every category while women are advantaged in every category both socially and legally. We know that its men who are suffering due to the feminization of education (4x more likely to drop out, about 36% of men graduate from college despite this we have an over abundance of emphasis on women getting educated (even as they have substantial women only scholarships and grants and few for men). They claim that everything is a mans fault through "patriarchy" but can't point to anything that suggests the existence of this patriarchy as its original definition simpliefied was that it was a system of oppression that benefited men to the detriment of women yet when its pointed out that only women are benefiting and men are suffering feminist claim its due to patriarchy (men) that men are suffering and that its still some how due to men being advantaged and women being disadvantaged (kind of like how Hillary claimed that the primary victims of war where women when clearly its men because its men who are dying not women, and her reasoning was that it was because women would lose husbands and sons which itself is quite evident that our socities priorities are on women as the loss of a mans life is considered more burdensome to the woman then to the man who actually lost his life (or his father/son).). They claim that poverty is a womans issue even as 80% of the homeless are men. They claim that its patriarchy that causes women to get equal or better custody over 90% of the time for a fathers 44% of the time (equal custody occurs about 35% of the time meaning a woman gets better then equal custody over their children over 60% of the time for a mans 9% of the time) even as they neglect to mention that this was lobbied for by feminist organizations like NOW (who where quite open about their stance) and the women who demand that a man be the primary bread winner then turn around and blame him for not being able to spend enough time with his family because he is to busy being the primary earner as the woman wished. They claim that genital mutilation is wrong and a sign of oppression of women even though its illegal to perform in the west, rare in the rest of the world while male genital mutilation is wide spread (70% of men are circumcised in the US) in the rest of the world but they are fine with it.

First of all: men and women are not equal. They complement each other and our bodies and minds are built in a way to pick up for each other where the other lacks strength.

As an example: men are able to work longer, more grueling hours than women while women are able to work on more tedious tasks because they generally have more patience than men.

Is either one better than the other? No, but they certainly shouldn't be expected to be able to do the same things at the same level.

I'd also like to point out that the statistics the govt uses to claim a huge 'wage gap' are misused and missing context.

The numbers you'll find claiming that women are getting shafted don't take into consideration that women are more likely to take off from work to give birth, are less likely work overtime hours (as they'd rather be home with family), and more likely to CHOOSE jobs that simply don't pay as well.

The only 'correct' pay gap numbers you'll find are when they go industry by industry and do not calculate the numbers based on 'total pay' but instead an hourly rate. Those numbers show that there's only a $.09 pay gap from one industry to the next (and it's probably even less now).

You're also doing yourself - and the cause - a disservice by shaming women who do not hop on your bandwagon and "rah rah" for the perceived slights against women.

There are a LOT of women out there that would prefer things go back to the way they were, where the man works and the woman stays home. That is their choice and if that's what they prefer, that's what they prefer.

Biologically-speaking, that's how our bodies and minds are designed. Women care for the household and men literally destroy their bodies from working to care for the family and maintain a standard of living.

There's nothing wrong with that nor is there anything wrong with women wanting to have a career, not have children, and be expected to be treated the same as other men.

But in a lot of cases, the women screaming for "equal rights," want their cake and then eat it too. They will say they should be allowed to do 'x' (join the military is a great example) and then claim they're females and shouldn't be on the front lines (remember that?)

So female equality IS here. The $.09 pay gap should be removed and women should be treated like a man if they so choose. But I can promise you: it's not as easy being a man as you think. Be careful what you wish for.

I believe that much of the problem is that feminism has been hijacked by third wave feminists who are somewhat hysterical and come across more as man haters than advocates of equal rights. A lot of people can't distinguish between the very valid and necessary roots of feminism and the hysteria of radical, third wave feminism.

Income inequality is debatable, there is evidence both for and against and there has been a lot of manipulation of statistics in order to paint a more drastic picture than truly exists. In fact, studies have shown that if you factor in certain considerations the gap reduces to almost nothing. In the prime working age groups it is already almost non existent. Figures have been skewed by outliers and by the use of mean as opposed to modal averages. If you have, for example, 10 salaries at $50k and one at $1 million then the mean average is misrepresentative. The modal average is much more representative. Such misrepresentations have been made to justify the outcry.

Its probably because they love their brothers, husbands, fathers, and sons, not wanting them to be perceived as all potential rapists or to be held down at some point for the fact that they're male. They may not want to believe that the gains & success of the men in their lives necessarily means the loss or failure of themselves or their sex. They might be grossed out by the politicization of art and sex in ways that ruin the zest of them.

I mean, its not for me to say why they may or may not dislike feminism, but I don't think those thoughts are uncommon.

As far as workplace experience, i've never found that women were discriminated against & I always made sure to treat all co-workers with respect and good humor. I never witnessed any sexual harassment or workplace devaluation of their competency or productivity. The one female co-worker I had that really stuck out in my mind was a really shrill woman who watched me at all times for mistakes I might make and literally harassed me and others for telling jokes, talking as we're working, or even hassled people over their sex lives. I am under no illusions that there aren't people like that in workplaces who are male but as far as my experience goes feminism wasn't needed to rectify any wrongs.

What makes me believe that feminism is more anti-men than pro-women is pop feminists, the actual women who get vaunted and promoted to the upper echelon of the ideological echo chambers in both internet & academic based settings. These feminists fail to meet the standards of both accomplishments or goals set by the women who began the initial ideology at the Seneca Falls Conventon like Elisabeth Cady Stanton. These were women whose liberty was being denied & they were being told they were too stupid or emotional to take part in politics or to vote, as though men were just all hardcore well read stoics whose total control over it is benevolent. I disagree with their extra, alcohol prohibition temperance movements but they were actually fairly instrumental allies to the abolitionist movement and helping to secure peoples' civil rights.
Now you have women like Gail Dines trying to demonize pornography, saying that women can't contractually consent to a gangbang scene or something involving sadism. You have Linda Sarsour undermining the credibility of the womens' march by advocating for bringing openly misogynistic systems of law from the middle east to the US, & saying Ayan Hirsi Ali doesn't 'deserve' her vagina.

If you can't afford contraception then don't have sex.
Men have to pay for condoms , women have to pay for birth control pills. Just because some Jane and John can't control there hormones have to consummate with every tom dick and harry they meet, doesn't mean that tax payers should pay for Jane and John's behavior.
A 12 pack of condoms can be bought from Walgreens or equivalent local store for $11.99

Birth control pills cost around $15 a month.

Women tend to chose stem less often, there is no regulation or law in place to keep women from going into stem fields. If they are being harassed then report it. And we aren't supporting these people. Who wants to support a bunch of men hating entitled women who have taken feminism to far. I supported the original feminist that wanted rights but understood that men and woman are still different. Back then there was a way of life and jobs men and woman had to raise families. Men worked providing income and made sure everyone ate and had a roof over their heads. They took on all the stress of making sure they provided that. Woman took care of the house and raised the kids. Now if there was no kids that's where it came in that a woman should be able to work as well. And there was no reason why both men And woman could share the household chores or grocery shopping. But with kids involved us woman had an important job which was raising well behaved And smart human beings to carry on our world. But woman had to have careers too just to let somebody else raise their kids. It got to the point where woman stop believing it was necessary to have fathers for their kids or that men were not needed for anything. Just because they could juggle a career and kids doesn't mean a price wasn't gonna be paid by their children. If you really think about it look at how well behaved kids were and how people were better to each other way back when before women decided they didn't need a man for them or their kids. Now look at our world today. Sure you get what you want. But look at the price we've all had to pay because woman thought it was unfair that they had to stay home to raise their children. a lot of people don't even remember a time like that and now it's only getting worse. And to all you women who claim you don't need men. The fact is we need men just as much as they need us. How do you think the human race will go on otherwise? Some things did need to change and I support those changes. But I support men and woman becoming a team again. Not competing against each other.

Probably because many people have had bad experiences with self-proclaimed feminists. I have been straight up shamed by feminists before. Many of them look down on other women who prefer traditional lifestyles. These feminists think they are more intelligent than conservative women, and therefore "superior" (in their own minds at least). Isn't feminism "supposed" to be about "freedom of choice"? At least, that's what they're always preaching. Unless of course, you choose to believe something that they don't agree with.

Now, I'm not saying ALL feminists are like this. I'm just saying that this is how many feminists *I* have encountered behave, both in college and online. I know other feminists will claim "those aren't REAL feminists, feminism is about X, Y, Z." Well, you can claim your movement is about whatever you want but when the people within your group act a certain way, that's what the world will see and associate your movement with. Being overbearing, condescending, arrogant, and constantly promoting a victim complex isn't something I want to be around. Sorry not sorry.

In the words of actor Maisie Williams " We should stop calling feminists 'feminists' and just start calling those who don't believe that men and women are equal as 'sexists'. Then everyone else is just a human."
Also, FYI feminism isn't"pro-woman" it's pro human. It is the upliftment of both men and women. It's not just women who are discriminated against. Men are too. So, in this case normal people would uplift both men and women in their respective fields where they might be discriminated against, objectified or outright refused a job due to a certain gender.
One has to remember that we women cannot expect men to be chivalrous if we cannot be chivalrous back. Gender roles are created by society but that does not mean that we have to accept them. We make our own rules. A man does not need to leave his seat for a woman or anyone (public transport, etc) for unless and until they are disabled or elderly. Neither does he have to pay the bill all the time. Women can pay their bills too. Honestly you cannot expect one person to pay all the time because then well... That person won't have any money left. It's very simple. Similarly men cannot simply cat call women. It is extremely inappropriate and makes women feel objectified (usually) which is not something that you want them to feel. If you like someone go tell them, ask them out etc.
Don't be a 'feminist' or a 'sexist'. Be a normal human being.

Some just don't like the extreme forms of feminism, some are very traditional minded (which many feminists are against), some don't like that feminism used to be about choice but now even feminists are telling them what to do, and some are just going with the crowd, especially the guys. They don't want to be the outcast. Nowadays if you agree with even one 'feminist ideal' (even if you don't agree with ALL of them. And some 'feminist ideals' are things that any average women will agree with, such as proper health care for women. Years ago before feminists demanded better healthcare for women they had very little to zero idea about conditions like PMS, endometriosis, PCOS, Uterine fibroids, Interstitial cystitis, gynecologic cancers and various infections that occur regularly for a lot of women because of our biology and so forth. If you complained about something they often said you were 'hysterical' and just gave you a vibrator or something. Maybe a lobotomy. Any chick that says she is completely against feminism might as well admit to being against efficient healthcare for issues that only affect her as a woman) then lots of people make you out to be public enemy number 1 or something.
