How do you feel about the "Their platform their rules" argument?

It's why they have a platform and you can read the rules before use.

Look at it this way: you try and walk into a swanky restaurant with no shirt or shoes. You wouldn't even get the door fully open, before they would boot you out. It's their platform and their rules, hence are free to withdraw service to violators.

It's no different online, and it makes me laugh when people try the "mah freedom!" argument. Bitch, they're protecting their freedom keeping trash like you off their space!

I have no problem with a true platform, but when it operates as a virtually monopolistic avenue for public discourse that is a different situation. Also, if a platform can censor non-violent/non-illegal speech, then is it really a platform or is it operating as a publisher and therefore liable for all copyright infringement and libel brought to its attention but not expediently removed?

However any social media platform or website has to abide to the laws of multiple countries.

Espacially as we are seeing more and more monopolisation with only one or two small alternatives.
