I didn't even think it was still a thing, but it came out as a topic of conversation during lunch with Jess, who told me about a partner in her firm (whom I just met) who won't have dine alone with any woman who's not his wife.
Maybe because I come from Europe, I knew about this rule but never actually saw or met anyone using it. Personally I don't think it's even necessary, at least for me, I have had dinner alone with women who weren't my wife many times and the only time I felt off about someone, I made it a group dinner - although ironically enough the broker that swindled me out of a lot money and got arrested trying to catch a plane to her country was someone I had dinner/lunch weekly. The only mud she tried to sling was claiming she was having "relationships" with all her clients me included and the stolen money were "gifts" - everyone saw it was blatant BS.
