Does God really protect us from harm based on our intentions?

God told me in a dream he would protect me from bad men by sabotaging my chances to date them before I even learned they were evil, if I tried to make sure I had acceptable intentions in God's sight, because God promises to guard the lives of those who have acceptable intentions in their private lives...,

And I was reading about a woman who was with a loving and faithful husband for 6 years, 5 of those were married years, one was a dating year before she got married, and then she cheated on her husband and left her husband for another man, and the new man abused her for 6 years, and then killed her...,

And I am not celebrating her death in any way, but it goes back to my dream, that God protects you when you maintain acceptable intentions, and if your intentions are not acceptable, God might withhold His protection from your life.

It’s a bit alarming to use a tragic murder to try and prove a theory about divine protection and intentions. Trauma and abuse are complex, and pinning them on someone's internal motives ignores how devastatingly random and cruel real life can be
