The whole point is there supposed to ensure what's been passed in the house of commons has been properly debated and to send it back if it hasn't. They can't actually block a bill only delay it 2 years.
I think it's a good idea because it stops ill thought out laws been pushed through but I don't like the idea of hereditary peers or how prime ministers can stack it in their favour.

Couldn't give less of a shit. Its like our congress. Bunch of sociopath micro dictators who try to control our lives without consideration for our lives.
Depends what you think the process of government should be.
If you're democratic, then the lords is a necessary counterbalance. If you're more monarchy, then the lords is not.
I don't like it. Kingdom rule has ended long back in almost all countries. I don't know why they still act like 1800 or before that.
