If you don’t have a political rival, you’re living in a fascist state. I fear a good portion of this country would support a fascist leader from their side of the aisle.

I don't want mob rule, like many liberals will state we don't need elected representatives, we need every one to vote on every bill, they pass if majority votes for it.
That would be mob rule, of 2 wolves and a sheep voting what's for dinner.
The majority can be just as fascist as a government, in voting for what they want.
The Constitutional Republic the US has where state rights are meant to be a check on Federal power (despite being whittled down a lot since 1776) and following the constitution prevents this.
We vote for representatives, not directly.

Which is ironic because people are freaking out about state legislatures taking EC votes and allocating them how they want, but wouldn't technically that still be the will of the people? After all a ELECTED body would be deciding who their states votes should go towards.
Personally I want whoever wants to pass laws to remove laws, give us all more freedom, less regulation in everything from abortion to environmental issues.
More freedoms, less interference. So sure if a fascist government wanted to remove a lot of laws and give us WAY more freedom, I'd be for that.
@goaded I have, many Democrats say they want things like the Electoral college to go away, and ignore the rights of lower population states and just pass laws based on a national system of everyone votes on everything... no need to elect anyone, just have raw Democracy.
These aren't elected Democrats, these are the regular ones who scream Democracy and vote Democrat every time and then complain that the constitution is outdated and should be ignored and congress and the senate are both pointless. That the will of the people is all that matters, simple rule by popularity.
Sorry if you've never heard of it, I wish I could stop hearing them rant about it.
"many Democrats say they want things like the Electoral college to go away, and ignore the rights of lower population states..."
That's not what getting rid of the electoral college would do, though. All it would do is ensure the president was the choice of the majority of the people (me, I'd push for instant-runoff voting among multiple candidates, but that won't happen). The Senate is a far more logical place to have the voices of the lower population states heard.
Unlike many Republicans would have us believe, it's possible for Republicans as well as Democrats to win the popular vote (and it would give Republicans in, say, California a reason to turn out and vote). Ronald Reagan won over 50% of the vote.
"... and just pass laws based on a national system of everyone votes on everything... no need to elect anyone, just have raw Democracy."
Well, they would be very extreme because that would obviously be completely unworkable.
That is true. I would not support a fascist govt. I dont even fully agree with all points of the party I most agree with. Thats why its important to have more than one party that have political views that overlap. Yes there are parties I would consider political enemies, and wish they wouldn't be supported. But as long as they are supported and are not themselves facist let them be and argue with their supporters.
You are living in a fascist system right now asking that question.
There is no left and right in the States.
How can you be interested enough in the subject to ask a question like that and not be able to see the fascism right in front of your eyes?
Do you consider yourself to be a supporter of fascism, assuming you now understand the position you are in?
No. The only fascist government I would like is where the Lord Jesus Christ who alone is wise, righteous and holy rules in.
Humans simply can't be trusted with absolute power.
It's inevitable they will screw it up or abuse in some form because human nature is selfish and evil.
You won't get to ask him in when you'll be in hell.
Yeah see how not bending the knee to God works out for you. All the fools who thought the way you did are squealing in hell right now.
People who are into being ''cucks'' I think are people who tend to vote democrat or liberal by the way.

No. My politics are democracy. I want it as inclusive as possible, that avoids extremists gaining too much power.
@Levin That's an interesting leap from what I was saying. No, I was thinking more about people trying to steal the presidency and starting violent attacks on the centre of government.
Even Trump is in favour of vaccinations. And it's fine to question anything, as long as you accept factual answers and don't just move on to another question. (There's no age where the vaccine is more dangerous than catching the virus, and they reduce the chances of hospitalisation and death if you do catch it.)
I would never vote for or support political extremism. Germany in the last hundred years has experienced both fascism and communism and both times the country ended in literal or proverbial ruins.
Wehret den Anfängen!
No I don't believe so. Its not that long ago that Spain and Argentina were fascist countries following the example of fascist Italy.
National socialism, communism, facism, imperialism etc is all from the past. I'd be more concerned about what new modern totalitarian government and political party will arise in 2022
Most people will say no, but most are lying to themselves.
Republic is good. Democratic Socialists Communist like Lenin and Stalin are bad !! Democracy or mob rule is bad.
Read a dictionary.
"republic: A state where sovereignty rests with the people or their representatives, rather than with a monarch or emperor; a country with no monarchy.
The United States is a republic; the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is a constitutional monarchy."
"democracy: (uncountable) Rule by the people, especially as a form of government; either directly or through elected representatives (representative democracy). "
What people fail to learn, anything the government will use against your opponents, they will use to keep you in line. The democrats think it's funny how the government is keeping the truth from the people about hunter Biden. The next time it could be against them. If the government can mistreat some, they can mistreat everyone.
The only good kind of government is a republic, i. e. representative democracy.
Fascism is socialist/left wing. (National Socialist German Workers' Party... Nazi)
Well you’re half right at least. But here’s some homework so you stop looking like an idiot:
en.m.wikipedia.org/.../Preussentum_und_Sozialismus
and they would probably still be quite unhappy... if they achieved it, sadly...
If a fascist government had my politics, then I'd be an ideological fascist myself. So why would I not support them then? But I'm not a fascist, fascism is the polar opposite of my political beliefs.
A fascist government wouldn't have my politics.
Of course not, it would be impossible for anything remotely resembling fascist to fit my politics.
Except on open borders I'm a libertarian so I do not see how a Fascist government could have my politics.
I would never support fascism. Democracy isn't a perfect system but at least it keeps politicians on their toes.
If it had my politics, it wouldn't be a fascist government.
