The 2nd amendment "The right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed". This was put in order for many reasons. To protect yourself, to hunt, and to prevent the government from taking over. If they keep pushing this unconstitutional no weapons law we will be doomed. While there should be certain things that you must have to have to be allowed to purchase these such things this should be allowed! Oh and there is actually no such thing as an assault weapon so that's a load of B. S there.
You omitted the first part... " A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed". You 2nd amendment worshippers need to keep things in context. In layman terms, it means that every American citizen has the right to own and use weapons. It also allows citizens to form state militia if the government oversteps its boundaries and people feel they need protection against an aggressive state government. The term “well regulated” refers to a well trained, properly organized and disciplined military group.
It was written almost 250 years ago, girl. Since then, other factors come HEAVILY into play, such as sanity and criminal behavior. Does a psychotic, mentally unstable person or convicted criminal have the "right" to own a weapon simply because they are a citizen? Or do we exclude them for the "public good"?
Do 2nd amendment rights mean today you should permitted to buy nuclear weapons? A Hydrogen bomb? Javelin, Hellfire, Harpoon missiles? IED's? I don't think so.
Your next misstatement: " there is actually no such thing as an assault weapon". There is in LEGAL terms in the USA. Anything can be used as a weapon to assault someone. I can kill you with my pen, but the term "assault weapon" has a legal definition, which is:
"In the United States, assault weapon is a term used to define firearms with specified characteristics. The definition varies among regulating jurisdictions, but usually includes semi-automatic firearms with a detachable magazine, a pistol grip, and sometimes other features, such as a vertical forward grip, flash suppressor, or barrel shroud."
@loveslongnails Any weapon could be considered an assault weapon even bows if you want to be technical.
Next never call me "Girl" again if you were one of my friends whatever but please use my @.
Legal rule should still apply for the buying of this such greandes same as you would have to have to buy a gun.
And believe me all of my friends hunt and I love archery so IK about this crap.
You just reiterated my point about weapons. ?>? What I did was give you a legal definition that generally applies here in the states, with some variations in different jurisdictions. My other point was about the 2nd amendment - when, why and the intent. We have many rights that come with restrictions, that's my point.
@loveslongnails I have to side with @bulldoglover3. AR in guns does NOT mean that it is an assault rifle or automatic rifle. An assualt rifle is something like a machine gun. Where did you get your research.
me still sry i didn't mean to @ myself.
Just look up various states' legal definitions of assault weapons. I said it was a legal term. Your personal impressions of what's assault worthy or not isn't the question - it's a legal definition defined differently by each state in the US, at the moment.
Sure why not, only rich people would be able to afford them... but make sure they are legal citizens first.
Then pass a law making it illegal to use them in a crime.
What is the point in making it illegal to use anything in a crime? At what point does someone planning to violate 1 law care about violating anther? Isn't the crime itself already illegal?
@monorprise It makes people feel better, as there are many laws not being enforced already on guns or other things, but people want more, cause more makes them feel better.
Im all for it. Did you know in the early days of the US, individuals had private war ships that often got hired by the US Navy? Whats sad is most people who bitch about assault weapons can't define what they are... Because guess what.. They dont exist..
Yes, because the meaning of “shall not be infringed” could not be more clear.
During the 18th and 19th centuries a few US citizens owned warships.

and anti aircraft systems and nukes?
based on the constitution one could argue they should be. I'd love to have a tank to drive around town.
but no, that's not needed for ones life, liberty.
I heard there's no law prohibiting owning a Flame Thrower in the U. S. XD
As a UK citizen I cannot give a yes or no answer to that, though when I lived and worked in the US I supported the 2A and carried daily.
Americans already do own Tanks and Artillery pieces...
No, I don't think so because these are weapons of mass destruction
Sure... but wait... what about nuclear weapons?
"I'm sure that in 1985 plutonium is available in every corner drugstore, but in 1955 it's a little hard to come by!"

@DryGermanGuy LOL!
Absolutely not, but your boots should be. I find it funny how civilians can own AK-47s, but not military boots.
I was watching something on netflix where some guy won a fighter plane
Its true you can own many if not most of theses things. They are of course very expensive and not generally useful to non-state actors.
@monorprise we were in Vietnam with my husband's grandfather who served there in the Vietnam war and his family.
My husband was offered for $500 the opportunity to shoot a bazooka at a cow. He declined but shot some of the guns left over from the war. I had a go with one of the American guns, they took it off me after I lost control of it and nearly shot our party. Vietnam was nice, I'm 4ft10 so it's nice to be less short compared to other people.
Yeah, let's up the ante on those mass shootings.🙃
32% condone school shooters and terrorists.
35% now...
Shall not be infringed.
Only if Biden gets a cut of the money.
Absolutely NOT. NEVER!
Yeah let’s turn America into a GTA lobby
