Yes. Very much yes. He was far and away the absolute best pope since the Second Vatican Council of the early 1960s. Though he had his own issues, was surrounded by terrible advisors, and was a much stronger thinker than he was an administrator, he was a great pope. Better than John Paul II and definitely much better than Francis. Benedict restored the Traditional Latin Mass to the liturgical life of the Church and (generally) maintained traditional theological orthodoxy and teaching.
I remember his words after being elected "I prayed to God that he would not choose me, as I thought I am not good enough for this, but if He wants me to, than I will perform as good as I can". Very humble man.
I always considered him to be a continuation of John Paul II, as he was fairly traditional as a pope, in my opinion even more traditional than JP2. The least traditional pope so far, as Francis is more reformist.
God bless his soul!

In my opinion yes, but more than that, he was an exceptionally gifted intellectual, a theologian of unmatched depth and humanity, and one of the few real and proper servants of the Cattedra di San Pietro.
Well, usually popes think they are right next to God in the trilogy of the God head.. so that ideology alone prevents any pope from being great. I don’t know them personally, so they might have been decent human beings, but the head of the Catholic Church is far from “great.” Look at what the Catholic Church has done throughout history. They should be tried for crimes against humanity and disbanded.
I am not Catholic or Christian but I have respect for him because he seems like a good man.
He seemed to believe in universal salvation (everyone eventually goes to heaven because no one is irredeemable) which to me makes the most sense and seems true to me.
What? You're NOT?
No, but Pope Jean Paul II applied Scheler's theory of phenomena to Christian ethics in his doctoral thesis. I think he was a great pope.
I think so, they forced him to resign because he started exposing all those scandals
What scandals? Malachi Martin literally said there are satanic rituals right in the vatican.
@ProudWoman
my dad had been saying that for years.

@ProudWoman Mostly pedophilia and mismanagement of funds.
He took on a lot of accountability for the atrocities of the Catholic Church of the historical past and present. He deserves much respect.
He was quite sincere. Not like the present one.
They're all as bad as each other. They've dedicated their life to promoting a false religion.
I think he was.
Well, he stood down...
Did he protect children?
I like the Polish pope from Poland
Didn’t Romans kill Jesus?
RIP...
Then again, we don't know for sure how true the news is..
I myself have not witnessed too much evil done by them.. but if they for example. abuse children.. I'd rather put them down so they stop..
