What do you think of Pope Francis?

I love and respect him as the Sovereign Pontiff. And unless a future pope declares otherwise, he is the valid and legitimate pope.

With that said however, I also think he is one of the worst popes that the Catholic Church has ever had, if not THE worst. For one thing, he's often sold as a gentle and loving man of charity and compassion, but according to Vatican insiders, that only lasts as long as the cameras are turned on. He's shown himself to be very inconsistent and duplicitous. Plus, he absolutely hates those Catholics who attend the Traditional Latin Mass (though I'm starting to think he just hates orthodox Catholics in general) and he often doesn't even wait for privacy to express such. In fact, sometimes he even goes out of his way go swipe at us.

So there's that. But then there's also his sickening affection and preference for sexual predators. His defenders often to to frame him as some kind of aggressive trail-blazing reformer on sex abuse, but the truth is that he's just the opposite. For a few examples, I'd recommend people look up cases like those of Theodore McCarrick, Marko Rupnik, Julio Grassi, and Robert McElroy/Rachel Mastrogiacomo and tell me if they still hold that opinion of him. And those are just the examples that come to mind right now.

Between all this and more, I believe that history will judge him very harshly.

I have lived through 6 Popes now having be born at the end of Pope John XXIII's reign. I remember 5 Popes and each has had his plusses and minuses. However, I think Pope Francis is the best Pope in my lifetime. That said, Pope Paul VI was important for Vatican II in 1965 and Pope John Paul II was important as being the first non-Italian Pope in about 500 years and for his efforts which had a major impact on the end of the Cold War.

I think he has a good big picture about religion... he is different than other popes

I personally liked how he treated Polish priests who were accused of pedophilia... it was very straightforward and right...

but I'm not believer, so it's hard for me to say anything about him as the head of the Church

he blessed homosexual couples, he is chummy2 with other religion when what he should be doing is assert that Jesus is the ONLY TRUE God. I believe when you serve God you stand up for God not for man

He's a bad Pope. His politically modern moves to pivot the Catholic faith are terrible. Catholicism is the only religion that does this too and it's the most criticized by the exact crowd he's pandering too.

You don't see Muslims or Jews warping their religion based on modern ideas and values and they still have great devotion. The same even goes for Eastern Orthodox but now the Pope and the Catholic Church are so far behind they pander to what's current and popular.

We need to get back to the roots of Catholicism but stay the fuck out of modern politics. Separate ourselves and demand that we can behave as our religious freedoms tell us and use the Bible and history as said guide.

Usually catholic priests are homosexual pedophiles but Francis has some preference for brown feet. I'm sure among pedophiles being a foot fetishist is considered a perversion that's why he isn't especially popular by hardcore Catholics like Order Opus Dei

False prophet, he adjusts his declared view according to society in general, as for allowing gay men to be ordained, just total hypocrisy, many priests are gay anyway,,,
