I would say three disadvantages is
1. Convenience is so common to the point where no one has patience
2. Communication skills have gone out the door because even though we have tons of ways to communicate now, the ways we have came up with are more indirect ways to communicate
3. Genuine connections are harder to build because people can just join social media and build a totally different personality depending on what social media app they download.

It's based upon theft from the future rather than savings, and that can lead to massive loss in freedom and chaos.

Morals and values declined, after removing God... which was attempting to create some. That may stand upon a foundation of the loss of fathers...

The internet which was meant to be the information superhighway, actually helps spread more misinformation than ever now.

Relationships seem to be more difficult to maintain these days with a lot of people texting others and avoiding their partners.

Some kids spend a lot of time online learning that they aren't good enough, tall enough, skinny enough, attractive enough etc. rather than playing outside and getting exercise like previous generations.

And yet, if you look at the actual birth rates, they have fallen below "replacement level" of 2.1 per woman in more than half the world, and that assumes a 50/50 sex ratio. Even countries above this number per female have seen a massive decrease, from what was typically over 6.0 to under 3.0. The population is still growing, but it is even more rapidly *graying*, and at some point in the future there will be "the great die-off".

@Curmudgeon You don't say nothing when we multiplied to 8+billion. But you talk about people having less kids. Humans are strange. There's tons of new homes being built, yet a lot think we are losing population. We were so use to the old school mentality, that today's may surprise you.

Again, we are not losing population *yet*. Actually, I take that back. Japan and a few other countries have a higher death rate now than they do a birth rate. More elderly people diapers are now sold in that country than infant diapers! Anyway, the trend is there, and barring some great life extension technologies, we will see fewer people by 2050.

And even if we *do* have great life extension technology breakthroughs, it won't be a world full of youth, it will be a world full of elderly.

In other words, if we do have a dystopia, it will be like "Children of Men" rather than "Soylent Green".

@Curmudgeon Well then this world has to offer more lol. Having kids is a ton of work and super expensive. Many people can't even stay in a relationship. People have more fun and are free. Blame the boomers for multiplying or population so fast. Back in the days where a lot if people had 10 kids.

@Paul09 if it is any consolation, the "Baby Boomers" of yore will be the bulk of the upcoming "die-off" in 2030 forward. Already the "GI Generation" is almost gone, and the "Silent Generation" preceding the Baby Boomers is relatively small and fading away fast now.

And actually, the Boomers had relatively *fewer* kids than their GI or Silent Generation forebears, who did have larger families than said Boomers.
