Why do people play semantics instead of refusing to recognize that republicans are racist regardless of if democrats started the KKK?

Not US citizen. But I will point out that the word semantics means meaning. I don't see how you can have meaningful discussion without talking about meaning and using logic which is semantics. In other words you can't dismiss something by saying it is semantics (which people often do). Cause the you are saying meaning and logic don't have a place in discussion.

Because they wish to paint Republicans as racist, and if you want to do that its better to play semantics than accept the truth and refuse the lie that ALL Republicans are racists. That goes against their goal here, if the goal is to paint them as racists..
