Why do conservatives think blaming democrats for creating the KKK will stop people accusing them of racism?

Every time someone blames republicans for being racist, there is always someone that says, "well democrats started the KKK" and regardless if it's with immigration or anti-black racism, that's always brought up. Mentioning democrats will not derail or absolve you of racism.

Conservatives have no genuine argument against Democrats that cannot be pointed towards Republicans as well, if not dismissed altogether.

They don't. They are just pointing out that democrats are racist too. You see, some people like to pretend that racism is exclusive to republicans. And you may also notice there are people who care a whole lot about racism, except when its done by left leaning people...

I don't own a gun and I would not shoot at anyone.
I know it does not absolve me, just like I know that just because some conservatives can be racist does not absolve leftists
