During the height of the Cold War, you could still buy Pravda. Openly and blatant Communist (Soviet Communist, at that) propaganda was okay when nuclear war was still on the menu, but a stupid phone program is a problem... why, exactly?

I agree that the Chinese government has FAR too much influence in the US today, but banning things isn't a great method of making them go away- look how well it worked for drugs and abortions. Or murder.

I would be for seeing Tik Tok vanish into the void and become irrelevant. All it does is just give us more social media which is cancerous in if itself, but you can see how sad it is for people to try and chase fame via influence and negative trends. Do we need to look at Devious Licks? Tide Pod challenges? Dragon Breath? It shows us downgrading on the daily as a species.

I've heard many that wanted to ban it, and I believe Trump thought Americans should buy it. But that's only because it's Chinese spyware. But I've never heard of anyone wanting to ban it because it's a negative influence. There's way worse things than TikTok. I just don't get why between Google, Microsoft and Apple, they couldn't come up with an app that would blow TikTok out of the water.

I used to agree with this but to be honest, you might as well get rid of social media in general, if bad influence is the reason.

The far left lunatics might have gotten worse because of TikTok, but they were still around pulling the strings of our society years before Tiktok became a thing.

As for it being Chinese spyware, why should I care if Xi Xanping knows I went to Walmart today and did nothing else? I'm sure he wants to do something about it, but he can't (not yet anyway).

I'm more concerned that my own government has been stalking me through my electronics ever since the Patriot Act in the name of stopping terrorism. It's creepy as shit and that needs to go if anything

Tiktok can be great. It just depends on what videos you use it to watch, and then it gives you more like those. Mine is mostly animals, art, fashion, and trivia, with the occasional political update. It's really just like any other media site; you won't kill any bad influence by taking down the site. They will go elsewhere. You'd have to take out the whole system. And I don't see that going very well.

I agree because of the bad things I have seen on there when it was shown to me before by coworkers and by students. There are lots of anti American things on there, lots of racism against Whites, and sexualization of children on there. Plus China's government takes American citizens' information from that app. It is intentionally used to harm America.

Did you know that in China Tiktok's adds contain engineering stuff, medical stuff, science stuff etc. In USA Tiktok adds contain social media challenges like "you have 1 hour to buy all you want and I pay".

It's a China's way to make America weaker.
