People are mad at the upcoming "The Little Mermaid" because it's a live-action remake. We want new ideas from Disney, not remakes of classics. However, say anything bad about it online, and people will call you a racist because the new Ariel is black. Therefore, you must be racist for not wanting to see this movie.

J. R. R Tolkien's Lord of the Rings did not have black characters. The new Amazon series does. Say anything bad about the series and people will call you racist because they assume you don't like the black characters.

They ARE making it regardless, so it's not an issue about race. Rather it's an issue with White America thinking it's being "replaced". When in fact they replaced Native Americans and Jews, hence only natural they too get replaced and not be little bitches about it.

People want something new, and showcase new talent. Not see shitty White only talent like was the case in the 40's

Of course its an issue about race, thats why these companies have introduced diversity quotas. Basically a way to force a certain percent of non-white and lgbt people into a movie wheter it fits or not. Wanting new things and showcasing new things are all fine and dandy, but don't do it in a remake based on an old book! New books comes out every year, why not pick one of them to adapt instead of blackwashing remakes of old movies?
