Why do we allow consumers to buy things that could break the law?

Question

Cars that have the option to break the speed limit. Guns that can kill. That seems illogical to me.
It would seem every car should top out at 75mph and every pistol be a.22. People still die from 22s but a lot less wouldn’t.

The DC snipers woulda been pretty puny with a.22 sniper rifle.

.22 would be a good round for mass shootings. You can carry a lot of rounds. What was lethal about the DC sniper was that they were completely concealed, nobody suspected.

They say the average American breaks 3 federal laws per day as it is.

Why do we allow consumers to buy things that could brake the law? Really? We would be able to buy anything. You can kill someone with a toothbrush or something glass or or porcelain. Not to mention basic gardening tools (by the way it’s illegal to grow wheat in your backyard so just having gardening tools could brake that law much less kill someone). Hell you can kill someone with a pencil or a pen. Why are we allowed to have hands? You can kill someone with your hands. What a stupid question

Given many commercial vans are fitted with speed limiters I'm surprised cars aren't too. Yes many have a button you can push but it's optional. We are capable of making cars that won't allow drivers to break speed limits but the government would lose millions in speeding fines. No doubt car manufacturers have enough clout to stop it.

i remember going into a best buy looking for a present for my father for Christmas one year. i don't remember what i was looking at but i always read the labels and information. so, this product said "does cause cancer". how the fuck do you sell a cancerous product? not even cigarettes say that!

Anything can be an illegal with enough velocity. It's silly to ban a thing because you're scared of it. Assailants will get acess to it wether or not you make it illegal.
