Why are democrats so obsessed with public schools?

Why would anyone NOT be? Every metric of your country is decided by your public education. It is the thing that decides if you are a successful country or not, that separates your country from 3rd world hell holes, that fuels your growth and make our modern society function.

Without public schools we would basically backslide as a species. The better we handle public education the better we do, simple as that. Nothing else even comes close to pushing us forward at the same rate. The fact that you are trying to undersell public education is.. well I dont honestly know.

I never said we shouldn't have public schools or there's no problems with schooling.

I don't think democrats are doing a good job at fixing them though, they just create more and more problems

Well obviously. The US education system is on its last legs but its not just because the Democrats are doing a bad job but also because the Republicans has intentionally destroyed it over the years. It would take a herculean effort to both fix the damage the Republicans inflict on the system every time they are in power as well as to fix the fundamental problems with the US system at the same time.
