Why is it that some people double, triple and quadruple down on their opinions even when faced with 50 years of peer reviewed scientific studies?

I will not name the person, nor will i mention the gender, Reason being is this person normally has well thought out honest and good opinions.

We were having a debate about something near and dear to my heart, Gaming. this persons opinion is that gamers no matter the circumstance are fat, lazy disgusting negligent worthless people. Of which i am none of these. Never have been, and i have been gaming since the mid 80's. Of course im going to defend gamers. I cited studies that span back 50 years to current, which show the influence gaming has had on technology, computers them selves, the sciences, aerospace, and medical.. This person just doubled down over and over. I came to this person with facts, and she responded only with faith and feelings.

Someone please tell me why people can be so blind to the truth?

Also you said you wouldn't mention the gender but you called them a “she” in the last paragraph 😂 Anyways, maybe she feels so strongly because of a negative experience dating one (boyyy can i relate there). But i agree with you that she shouldn't deem all gamers as so (just maybe a good majority) 💀 But nah forreal though, why would you keep trying to defend yourself to someone who will only continue to think otherwise? man i fucked that up. No i was not referring to you at all. I've never really seen you put them down. Gaming though is the reason i live in the home i live in, and have what i have. Its what got me my job in cyber security. As to your last paragraph, i fully agree.

Lol they're called a special case to assume that I sometimes play games and I am not any of those things but I am kinda busy so I haven't been able to play COd or WZ as I want but I will still play and I'm still good so I don't know what that person is on, but they're just not very intelligent & probably refuse to go outside.

You are trying to be logical with someone whose opinions were probably born as a result of emotion and maintained as "a matter of principle" (a stubborn refusal to yield based on the emotional need to always be right.)

Some are lazy and fat just like a lot of other people that get hooked on things it is one thing to enjoy games and not be hooked on them like anything else games drugs alcohol porn etc.
