Bidens off cuff remark said 10 years. Seeing how several of the richest corporations on earth are oil producers with big lobbying pockets, I don’t see this happening. Without them, we could do it.

Electric cars aren't new, nor is gas power, biofuel etc. You can produce oil from coal. Oil/gas is the cheapest form of energy, so as long as its in the ground in abundance we will be on it unless there's a quantum leap in battery technology and solar and wind power is made more efficient and productive.

The combustion engine was developed over a 100 years ago, as was electric power, gas power, nuclear power is 70 years old yet even today we still burn coal because its there and economical.

This new cold war with Russia and China may push technology forward.

The thing to remember about those richest oil companies they are actually the biggest investors in green energy. If some new cleaner way of getting energy such as electric cars was invented tomorrow I guarantee you would not see a difference in your wallet, these guys would want their cut.

That was my point about lobbyists…electric cars were invented nearly around the model T…but they were moth balled.

You still have to build a battery and charge it. Lithium batteries are the problem I think. Electric cars need a systems where instead of having to charge the car you just remove the battery and put a charged one in.

at least the next 100 years. there's not nearly enough usable alternate energy to keep us going at the levels we are now plus future growth, and it will take way longer than they're saying to perfect the technology it needs. even if the U. S. stopped all oil today 90% of the world would not, so our not using it wouldn't make one bit of difference
