As a kid, you were likely required to get vaccinated for several diseases before you could attend public school. Your parents could refuse to get you vaccinated, but the school is within its rights not to admit you until you are vaccinated. No one is going to drag you out of your home to get vaccinated.

In other words, you have the right to refuse, but they have the right to deny.

You get a vaccine to mitigate the effects of getting the disease. You still have the pathogen that causes the disease and can transmit it to others.

Here's an example.

Do you know what AIDS is? Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome.
It's a highly lethal disease caused by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) which is sexually transmitted. Someone who has this virus is "HIV-positive"

Now, suppose there's an AIDS vaccine.
You see a really hot girl and want to have sex with her.
She's infected with HIV, but she's taken the AIDS vaccine so she'll be OK and won't die from AIDS.

You're unvaccinated because you refused to take the AIDS vaccine.

Do you have sex with her?
Should she have sex with anyone who is unvaccinated with the AIDS vaccine?
Do you have sex with her?

So, do you get it now?
What happens to you does not depend on whether or not she is vaccinated.
It depends on who she has sex with and whether or not that person is unvaccinated.

Back to the real world, there is no AIDS vaccine (yet), so if you have sex with someone who is HIV-positive, you are taking your life into your hands because, if you get infected, there is a good chance you will die. Let's ask my aunt about that... oh... we can't... She died in April 2000 from AIDS after having had sex with my uncle who was HIV-positive and also died from AIDS a few years earlier.

Anyway, do you understand? Those who are unvaccinated are at risk from those who are infected - whether or not the infected person is vaccinated. The pathogen may not harm the vaccinated person, but the vaccinated person still has the pathogen and can give it to someone who is unvaccinated.

I did a lousy job of explaining this.

In short, when a child who is unvaccinated is prevented from attending school, it is primarily not for the sake of the vaccinated children who are attending. It is for the sake of the unvaccinated child. This is because the vaccinated children, while safe, may still be pathogen carriers and thus could transmit the pathogen to the unvaccinated child.

Many places where people congregate, like schools or churches, are places where infectious diseases are often transmitted between people. A good example is chicken pox which kids usually get earlier in life from their infected siblings or from the other kids at school. For example, I got chicken pox in the 1st grade in 1970 (as did a lot of my classmates) and my sister, who was 3, got it from me.

I had the Pfizer vaccine which is the one I'd want because it is a messenger RNA vaccine. mRNA vaccines are common now with many vaccines for all types of diseases and illnesses being mRNA vaccines.

That's the way it usually works... the supplier is liable for any damage its product may cause. For COVID, to encourage rapid vaccine development, the US Federal Government granted unqualified immunity to the drug manufacturers, which sets a very dangerous precedent. North Dakota's bill tries to change that, and I'm all for it.
