All you have to do is check basic shit before you buy a home. Every county has GIS maps with all kinds of information on land. Just choose to avoid living in areas that are earthquake prone to avoid earthquakes. If you are afraid of floods, then don’t buy a home in a valley, floodplain or directly on the coast. Buy it mid-slope on a hill or on top of a mound in places with less elevation. For hurricanes you just have to insure you purchase a CBS Block home with either impact windows or hurricane shutters and that the roof and hurricane ties are up to snuff when you get your inspection. Make sure you're not on the coast line. If you are like 2 miles from the beach you are safe from storm surge pretty much everywhere. If you're house is on a small mound of like 5 feet of dirt or you're not in a flood zone, then you'll never get flooded. Out of all the natural disasters around the world, hurricanes are the easiest to deal with in my opinion. They may be very powerful, but you usually know weeks in advance that it is coming to your general area so you can prepare ahead of time. If you have a solid house, they are no big deal. Everything else can catch you by surprise within a few minutes to a few hours, but hurricanes you’ve got time to do everything you need to do ahead of time including throwing a hurricane party and inviting all your friends over to have a fun time while you have a couple of days off work.

Nope.
That is why you have insurance, and make sure it covers those.
I'm in the upper midwest, anthe only thing we have is a tornado once in a while, and they only affect a small area.
We don't have earthquakes, or floods, I'm on high ground and far away from a body of water, so that rules out hurricanes as well.
Just look at the area you want to live in, there are many places that are safe places to live.

It depends on the area where the disasters happen. So I would avoid those places. Then again, it’s not just weather disasters that affect homeowners. There’s: 1) realtors 2) insurances 3) bankers 4) taxers 5) city hall. Homeowners are like chickens with their head cut off dealing with these idiots. So they don’t get fucked over. Each businesses complaining about money. Think about it, owning a house is hard.

you really need to do research where you want to grow roots in. The environment, the community, the government laws…

I’ve wanted a house in Miami in my fantasies and one thing that teaches my mind when I think about it is I need a back up home somewhere else too since they get more natural disasters than other places.

Yes. That is one reason I live in a place that has NONE of those. And, it is not too cold, or too hot, and it has LOTS of clean water, air and land. It is also the safest city in my country (America), it has good schools, LOTS of higher paying jobs, low cost housing, and LOTS of green spaces.

No, I would say do some research on areas where Natural Disasters are less prone to happen since you value that. You also, of course, need Home Insurance just in case a Natural Disaster occurs. The Insurance Premiums on a home will be higher depending on the likelihood of a Natural Disaster occuring.

If you don’t want to build a new house every so many years it is actually smart. I know people in the south that have to constantly redo their home due to hurricanes. Even if insurance will pay for it it’s a pain.
