Why is life so cruel / unfair?

A colleague & friend of mine is facing deportation. He's a good guy. He hasn't done any serious crimes. In his home country due to his religious beliefs he is slated for death, an anti-religious group has purposefully hunted down relatives due to their religious involvement.

The reason why he's being deported is because he was charged for sleeping in his car drunk. He wasn't driving drunk, he was sleeping.

Unlike so many people he actually thought of others. Yes he was foolish for being drunk in the vehicle but his intention wasn't to harm others.

The reason why he's being deported is because he got an moralless / unethical lawyer that charged him an outrageous amount of money & still couldn't get the charge waved.

Whereas thousands of lawyers here offer to wave actual DUI charges with a 50% success rate. Whereas when he went to get his car serviced one of the techs told him 1/4th the amount of money spent on another lawyer would've had the charge dismissed.

And the irony is in this country (Canada) law inforcement & border services has allowed foreigners who raped, etc. Canadian citizens or other foreigners in Canada to post bond and run back to their home countries. And done nothing to have them brought back for justice.

And they know my friend is slated for death in his home country, the documents were part of his application for refugee status.
