It'll end with some kind of cease-fire, but there's a zero percent chance that Russia ever agrees to anything that involves giving up Sevastopol, and most likely Crimea as a whole. If I had to place a wager, I'd say that they'll hit Ukraine hard with a Spring offensive, and when they reach a point where they can negotiate a formal end to hostilities on a relative high note, they'll take it - not too different from Germany's 1918 spring offensive. How long the peace would last is a subject of debate, however.

Russia doesn't have the means to fully seize and occupy the entire country, even if they hadn't taken heavy losses last year. The plan appears to have always been to install a puppet government if they were to defeat Ukraine outright.

Plus they won't actually live up to any agreement they make, Russia has a history of not honoring its treaties. If they did they would of honored the Budapest accords, and others that they've tossed.

Anyone who believes they'll honor a ceasefire or something new, is very ignorant.

@Aerissa_Jade No of course it won't last, just like how they didn't stop with Crimea back in 2014. In fact, such treaties frequently just end up being a period of recovery until the next round. If they signed to peace today, they'd be at war again in probably 4 years or less.

Even if Putin takes Kiev, he will have to occupy Ukraine. Ukraine is the largest country in Western Europe. He has already spent over 200,000 soldiers trying to take the country.

Oh certainly not. I was just pitching the best case scenario for Russia. The occupation would break them, even if they took Kiev. Ukrainians will never submit to Russian rule.

Obviously, unless the USA is willing to have a nuclear war, Russia will win. If necessary Russia will nuke part of the USA's military and even the USA before they will allow the USA to put nuclear bombs in Ukraine.

Of course, nuclear war with Russia and China may the the intent of the USA because that will eliminate 5 billion people, most of who will die from starvation after a nuclear war. Apparently most American would love for the USA to nuke and completely destroy Russia and China. Naturally, the USA will be nuked in turn killing most Americans but that doesn't matter if Russia and China are defeated.

Ukraine. But I think putin will use nukes before hand. He's already trying to sabotage undersea infrastructure by the Netherlands again, he's already destroyed a pipeline and shut others down to little to nothing, he has submarines going out near the scottish northern coast to sabotage their oil drilling operations etc.

Russian army is crumbling, the russian government is going after the Wagner PMC, which is the only part of their army that got some results, at the price of hundreds of their men.

They're loosing men by the hundreds, they lost a lot of tanks recently. Putin should give up, but doing so would be his demise, and probably his death. He's just saving his own ass.
