How many more senseless deaths will there be?
Sidestepping all the stupid rhetoric (i. e. "how many more senseless deaths will there be?") a conflict can only last so long.
I imagine that Russia is going to complete their mobilization (appx. 500,000 additional troops) and will use these as leverage to negotiate a peace with honor. I don't believe they'll want to field this many troops as it would be extremely costly, and force them into the position of NEEDING to outright win the conflict (which seems unlikely at present).
Russia does not currently have the forces fielded to decisively take Ukraine, and even if they field another half million (knowing these will be of lower quality than those currently fielded) their casualty rate will skyrocket, with no guarantee they'll be able to elicit an unconditional surrender. The costs of launching such a force would potentially cripple the Russian economy, and undo years of economic progress following the collapse of the USSR.
Putin and the world can see clearly now that the Russian military is not that good, despite being talked up for decades. Their tactics are also trash (one can see they tried to be fancy with combined arms attacks, and multi-front maneuver warfare that the US utilized in Iraq, but failed miserably). Their ego is badly bruised; so, now they need to end the conflict with something that looks like they came out ahead, but had the wisdom/ grace to end it.
Since the West isn't losing anything, and has unlimited funds/ arms to throw into the conflict there's little incentive we have to end the conflict, and Ukraine isn't willing to relinquish control of their government to accommodate Russian demands; so, really the most likely scenario is that Russia will annex a couple areas, enforce a buffer zone within Ukraine that they can't stage troops in, and will walk away with a modicum of success (gaining VERY little compared to their ambitions, and the tens of thousands of men they lost).
They're looking for peace with honor, and they keep trying Russian versions of US tactics, i. e. right now they're trying to mirror our "surge" in Iraq, but they don't have the money or military potency to do so.

Right now. there are too many unknowns. Putin is doing a lot of saber rattling. But I think his plan is a waiting game now. He can't overwhelm Ukraine. But he seems to think he can play the long game. If maga takes over next election, he knows the U. S. will pull its support for Ukraine and try to sink NATO. If that happens, he should be able to do what he wants. It just depends on how many Russian soldiers he is willing to send to the morgue. But he may be able to mitigate that if he uses nukes on Ukrainian citizens.
There are just too many variables.
1. Will trump or his cult win back the presidency/congress.
2. If they do, will Europe be able to hold together with Russia trying to undermine NATO.
3, Can Ukraine fight Russia to a standstill by itself?
The problem with dictatorships is that when they fail, they fail all at once. You can't really see it coming. So people in Putin's inner circle could be plotting his downfall right now, but we would never know. The only thing is, no matter what happens, if he dies, gets overthrown, etc. . somehow it will be Biden's fault.
So I don't know if it is a good thing or bad.
I wager another year, might end just after Christmas at latest. Putin will keep going until he's forced to stop. Thousands more civilians will die. As a Wagner official said, Ukraine is a meat grinder.
Also, there's a good chance russia will have border skirmishes against Poland soon, and a invasion of Moldova.
The experts said from the very beginning, this could last for a decade or more. Afghanistan was 20 years long. And for what? Nothing has changed. When the clown withdrew the troops from Afghanistan, I was wondering where the next war would be. Russia.

I think it will last until the Russian Armed Forces takes the entire territory east of the Dnieper river and liquidate the remnants of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the region. That seems to be the Russian government, and they do it in a gradual, slow pace since they invaded Ukraine with a relatively small combined force.
Russia will win this war and the West is gonna be demoralized for the next millennium. There's no way for us to effectively stop them without starting a nuclear war, in which there will be no winners and the entire Northern Hemisphere will be obliterated.
If the West keeps pumping Kyiv with weapons, it's obvious at this point that China will join the war on the Russian side since they were forced by our incompetent leadership in the US to become best friends. Our industrial complex simply can't compete with the China's one.
Two many factors are there, it's impossible to foresee when exactly the war will end, but I told you all how it will end.
Russia really wants its landbridge. Would probably have it by now, but the U. S. and others are providing plenty of monetary opposition. Hopefully, they calm their titts (both sides) and come to a diplomatic end of it. Ukraine... do a deep dive on Zelenskyy... dude was doing a stand-up of ripping Jews and Russians off before any of this. So a dive on Russia/Putin... They want to get that fuel over to the other side and have been wanting that. Tried to do it through Syria, look how that turned out. Zelenskyy was being the middle man and jacking up the price... so that wasn't working... oh and the U. S... most likely blew up that other pipeline. They're (Russia) are trying to come up and the U. S. cock blocks at every chance they get. I digress.
Hope they come to some diplomatic solution.
I agree with China, ... negotiate an end. I see no action publicly communicated from the West. I see attempts from the other side... but Ukranians are positioning there is no flex on their side. Can't blame them, but yea... it's a mess... and the ground isn't solid enough yet.
So I think it goes on long time, 3-5 years, unless Putin finds a way to back away gracefully, for another day. I don't think he does that, I think he keeps pounding.
So it goes on... all they can do is wear Russia out, but that is not easy to do. Will be some time til the tanks show up, months.
# of deaths...1 million, but it potentially goes much hotter, then I'd say around 300 million. That's just military direct deaths. Deaths associated by starvation, displaced humans creating other conflicts, could be higher, not to mention disease outbreaks from that. Maybe this goes up to 500 million dead or suffering before it's stabilized.
hope for better...
It's will last until Russia collapse which mean another 2-3 years, doesn't matter where Ukraine push the border during this time. A country can hold together a lot longer than you expect especially if you send all people who can riot to the slaughter. One thing is for sure Russia will never recover from this loss. Losing hundreds of thousands of young men when you have a population growth below 2. Women is going to have to leave the country to start a family, if and when the conflict ends and western countries allow Russian in again, they will be coming for jobs and husbands. Russia will be stuck with an old aged population and in a generation, it will be extremely weak.
Unwarranted? This is some nice propaganda you got here. Make yourself aware of what Ukraine was doing to Russian citizens in their territory before you speak.
This whole issue is based off how Ukraine treated Russians before the war. Then when Putin requested UN aid to fix it we ignored him. Then we push Ukraine into joining NATO just to irritate Russia and we’re sitting back pretend we have nothing to do with this war despite the fact we’re funneling tons of money and weapons to Ukraine.
Hell even shooting citizens is justified as far as I’m concerned. Zelenskyy put guns in the citizens hands to shoot Russians. You expect them not to shoot back? No Ukraine is in the wrong and the rest of the world is part of this. Personally Ide just have nuked Ukraine and called it a day. I don’t need this land but you won’t have it either. When either the Russian army and citizens decide they've had enough and shoot Putin against a wall, or when the Ukrainians kick the Ruskies out and call for a cease-fire and finally join NATO.
Either way, mad props to Ukraine for giving as good as they're getting.
I hope it doesn't go on much longer. It’s Biden’s fault. This is the second time Putin invaded with a pussy democrat in office. He wouldn’t have done it with Trump in office. In addition biden refuses to give Ukraine what they need to win but only gives them enough to keep the killing going. He’s all about death and human suffering. Proof is the open border where women and children are raped and used as sex slaves for border access, the cartels making huge money through human trafficking, the deaths by attempted border crossings either by the cartels, harsh desert conditions or river drownings. Further proof he’s a culture of death is the 500 fentanyl deaths a day that he enables with his open border and his embracing late term abortion. The democrats are about death
From what I understand by applying my military background/knowledge.
The only reason why Ukraine has lasted this long is because NATO has been providing them munitions, weapons, vehicles, etc.
The dark side about this, is that NATO countries supplying Ukraine these items are essentially observing the conflict and by extension are conducting R&D. Given we hav only really been involved in asymmetric warfare conflicts for the past 60+ years. The last time we saw conventional warfare was in WWII.
So yes, we are basically putting human life before our own security, this is why I refuse to “stand by Ukraine” because the elected officials saying this are all in favor to use Ukrainian people as test dummies for the military industrial complex to test and improve current technologies.
To answer your question, I hope it ends soon. And that they find peace. The bloodshed needs to stop.I think by the end of the summer we will know who's going to win. Historically Russians have never left a war with less than half a million dead and they only have about 100,000 right now. So they are willing to have a lot more of their own citizens die. They just did a second mobilization bringing up 2 million more men and they're going to throw them all in there.
What makes it even worse is they changed their strategy. They are no longer trying to occupy Ukraine, they are now trying to annihilate it. Slow-moving artillery bombardments, destroying any standing structure whatsoever. Every building, processing plant, factory, house, doesn't matter. That allows them to bifurcate the Ukrainians into two groups. One will be refugees, and the Russians won't have to worry about them anymore. The other group, the ones who stay, will be automatically assumed to be fighters by the Russians and shot on sight.
At this point, we are looking at several million dead before this is overIt will last until one side has a decisive victory, or a stalemate persists for long enough that The Frontline becomes a border in practice, whether official or not.
This method of warfare is known as Attrition, where both sides try to whittle down the other side and consume their resources. Attrition can last for years, since it doesn't involve large scale combined arms engagements (big battles with large casualties); instead, it involves sending troops little by little into what is coined the "Meat Grinder".
Until the bad actors all the way around get bored of using humans to play chess with because they can't get any more power out of it or the nukes start flying from every corner of the globe. If it weren't for plants, animals, and children that haven't been rendered mentally retarded by the internet yet, I'd pray for the cleansing hellfire. Slava cykas! Send me a few and a some vodka, I'll do more for them than any of you are.
The history of Russia, and the nature of Putin's goverment strongly imply Putin will continue the conflict until he get what he wants.
Russia has more than enough people and weapons to flatten the Ukraine and slowly bit by bit, consistent with Russian military doctrine they are doing precisely that.
The Ukraine will run out of people long before Russia does.Until Ukraine visits upon MOSCOW's Politburo publicly, the carnage Putin has visited upon Ukraine.
The Russian public needs WITNESS... NO ONE is above dying; ... including Putin!
Novachuk, Polonium, Serin and Ricen end narssist bullies as surely as lead~
A bully bleeds EVER BIT as freely as their victims!
Tea time!Hahahaha!!!
“Unwarranted” indicates you are indoctrinated by western media.
Just because US politicians don’t understand or agree with Putin’s choices doesn’t mean they are entirely “unwarranted”. The US spends billions of dollars annually on “unwarranted” wars. Where are your posts challenging those? It will last as long as Putin is in power. No one knows how long that is, considering his age, his health, and the opinions of the Russian people.
It was warranted, though. That's why it's gone on, and not stopped in "six days" like the USA was blustering about.
Nothing the USA gets involved in ever ends well for that country. From Iraq, to Afghanistan, Columbia to Vietnam. When the USA gets involved, you know it's the USA that fucked things up.
I know have no idea. But if Putin is allowed to get away with this it will prove that crime DOES pay. And he'll keep going and it will start all over again in other countries. And China will start up and we'll have trouble there. The Russians have to be kicked out of Ukraine.
I'd say untill his people stop believing the propaganda he is feeding them. Sadly so far they are believing this is still a 7 day operation a year on from it starting !
Russia sucks at logistics and is even worse at combined arms/unit compositions. They are going to lose in Ukraine no matter how many troops they mobilize, it will just be a matter of time.
It will last until the US stops paying for it. Probably after Biden gets voted out of office or maybe members of the House can put a hold on any additional funds
