Trending & News Not yet. The petrodollar arrangement allows the US to field its multiple carrier groups while taxing the rest of the world through exporting its inflation. But this system will end sooner than anyone expected because the US and its allies have recently begun seizing foreign reserves, first with Afghanistan and next with Russia. The trend of de-dollarization is accelerating. It is difficult for patriotic Americans, many of whom tend not to trust their government in other matters, to accept the reality that America is not invincible and foolish leadership will erode its standing in the world.
As for China, it does not even have to match the US militarily. In the event of a conflict with Taiwan, its massive investment in anti-ship missiles forces the US to either keep its carriers too far away for the aircraft to reach the theater or to accept a very high risk of its carriers being sunk. Furthermore, a conflict is not really necessary unless the US supplies Taiwan with nuclear weapons. China just has to play the long game and wait for de-dollarization to progress until the US credit-bubble economy collapses.
Not really. We spend 3.3% of GDP on defense. China spends 1.3% of GDP on defense. Out GDP figure has all kinds of non-productive fluff like imputed rent, Chinaās does not. China probably spends more than they are saying on defense, but probably still well below what we spend as a percentage of _productive_ GDP.
I wouldn't want to see that contest. They got a lot of people and good enough tech.
USA simply doesn't have the forces, albeit navy and air is strong. We may have better technology.
Couldn't win in Afghanistan...
Couldn't win in Korea... without nukes... per Douglas M. request.
Couldn't win Vietnam.
We won in Nicaragua. yea
We won in Kuwait... yea!!
There's no win with China... maybe deter them. And China does not want to fight with bullets anyways. They are very smart smart...
So yes, they can match USA in their backyard.
Besides, they have bigger problems, they don't need a fight with us, why USA is fueling that fire is beyond me. Our govt is psycho or I'm missing something...
We didn't lose in Afghanistan. The Taliban litteraly just waited 20 years until we left.
We won in Korea hence why south korea exists.
We didn't lose in Vietnam. We interfered in a civil war, it was the Vietnamese who lost north and south.
We won in Iraq. There's basically about 2000 us personel in Iraq.
China is concerned about maritime trade routs and is bullying its neighbours because it fears blockade.
The US military needs an excuse to fund the complete overhaul and replacement all cold war era military equipment
That's what it is... about spending money to maintain our power. So we pick fights. Meanwhile, we send our corporations to manufacture in China and they take our technology for free...
Stupid...
@lightbulb27 I am her to certify that, yes, our government is psycho!
If I was a betting person I would say they most likely can.
In quantities, yes.
In quality, no.

It depends on what they're fighting over. Neither country could successfully invade and conquer the other, for instance. The US could stop the Chinese Navy near Hawaii, but it would have a harder time in the South China Sea. And although the US loves to tout how much it spends on its military, spending more money on something doesn't necessarily mean it's better. An orange can cost $2 in the US and 2 cents in the Congo, but the American orange wouldn't be better than the Congolese one. Additionally, China has at least 700 million more people than the US, lots of land, and lots of natural resources. Quantity has a quality all its own despite the wealth, training, etc. of the other side.
Now? No. No country can project power overseas except US. US has perfected its logistics, and the only blue-water navy in the world. US production during peace time is over the top, imagine how it can transform during conflict.
But, sooner or later, they can. They are popping carriers on a fast rate. They would just need experience - which I hope don't happen simply because experience = there is a conflict.
Problem is connection. US has tons of allies with modern military. China has a few, one of them is "superpower on paper" but hey, it's something, I guess?
The U. S. military thinks China can defeat them.
The real question is can china defeat the USA and its allies in the area, with the rearming of Japan that is still no.
The problem isn't can the USA and its allies defeat China in a near term conflict if we have all of our navy in the pacific.
The problem is can we knock China out of the war before their enormous industrial and demographic advantage allows them to build more drones, missiles, aircraft, ships, and tank than we can shoot down.
20+ years of free trade has given The Chinese Communist Part the world's factory and that is what we would be fighting if we can't knock China out of the war in the first few months.
@Bricealan That is what the USA propaganda would wish you to think. However, China manufactures most of the worlds circuit boards/semiconductors/computer chips etc; and what do western weapons rely on to function properly?
Go figure.
@leopard23 Unfortunately this is why driving Russia into China's hands with the Ukrainian war is soo terrible a strategic move.
Russia has all the raw materials and energy China could ever need and we can't shut down trade with Russia.
@Fat_Jon is right, China already makes the circuit board/semiconductors/ and computer chips even the west needs for our advanced weapons.
We should be playing nice with Russia and trying to bring them into NATO or at least keeping them neutral.
Strategic Joe Biden's antagonism towards a weak is soo counter to America's long term interests and in the Chinese interest one has to think Joe billion dollar bribe was in in part to take this position.
Well, the military is far different than when I was in a decade ago, but in terms of firepower/ tactics, no, they cannot stand up to us in a head-to-head battle (they'd lose as quickly as the Iraqi military). Our systems are just so much more advanced, and we have experience using them.
Now, for a prolonged conflict, anything can happen, and with the weakness of our politicians and culture there's not guarantee we'd be able to win if it became a war of attrition.
Chinese can COPY design of Any weapon or Missile but they failed to make that weapon as effective same as the Original one ! All Chinese Fighter jets are COPY of Russian or American fighter jets but still China in unable to make Engine and they import it from Rusia !
Russian have Knowledge, Expertise, Innovation, Infrastructure to build New High Tech Weapons but after 1991, Russia lacks funds and Now Russian Technique is 30 years old !
@Trackboy You make a good point, most people don't realize their current "5th generation fighter" (a copy of the F-22) uses a Russian-made jet engine, because they cannot design/ produce their own which will permit hyper-cruise capabilities.
@james
I agree with you. However weāll loose. Tyrannies and women in our infantry will be too busy arguing over who is more oppressed and has to hump mortar tubes and machine guns.
Women: no you hump the machine gun, Iām more oppressed.
Tranny: No you do it, Iām just as much a real woman as you!
Me after being drafted after being out for 25 years: Both you little bitches do push ups until Iām tired. Youāre making a goat fuck of this entire operation! STFU and push boots!
Correction. More accurate:
Me after being drafted after being out for 25 years:
Both you boot MFās stfu. Iām trying to crank one out in the 130 degree porta shitter to the only page in the squads mail order bride catalog pvt jones didnāt manage to jizz on yet.
One of you get my dip out of my ruck, and the other one bring me some MRE toilet paper. Dumb ass boots.
@Exterminatore I don't think the regular boot treatment would work for these two- we may need friendly fire incidents.
Not sure, the US military industrial complex is simply undefeated, for better or worse. The Soviet learned this lesson the hard way and Putin will remind you everyday of that. Big Victory! If Xi and the ChiCom have to learn the lesson then we in the west will learn it to and it will be at our expense. I prefer healthcare and education when it comes to priority on the taxpayers dollar. Check out the Polaris Class if you doubt my opinion. Three trillion in adjusted dollars. Not a shot fired in anger. Meanwhile my inevitable hip replacement surgery goes unfunded. Fuck Zelensky, who weeps for my unfunded and inflamed hip?
Maybe.
But the Chinese do know Kung-Fu.
And they have many Kung- Fu warriors. See here the evidence:
https://www.youtube.com/embed/P6ADdpoy3rgIf this is what we are up against I say we surrender immediately.
One on one, China would destroy the US in under a year. The question is silly though. The US couldnāt even achieve the necessary support to justify a war with China. Think of it like thisā¦.
A debtor goes to the police to complain that his bookie runs a scam. The UN is the police, the US is the debtor, and China is the bookie. Some portion of every police departmentās funding also depends on the bookieās financial success. Welcome to capitalism!
China has a much bigger millitary and a much smaller budget they could have a much larger army.
The US is far better equipped and trained throughout the army and all other branches.
But a better army is more then just gear and man power its experience, training, tactics and more.
Us has learned many hard lessons of war in recent years.
China lacks this and just like today in Ukraine where Russia is learning this the hard way. After biting off more than they can chew.
Thus to conclude China would need to vastly increase budget to get all thier forces to the standards of the US army and the only way to know for tactics is for a conflict to happen but due to battle field experience US win hands down
Yes, China might be able to match the US Military.
@leopard23 Your Problem is that you only see your Guns and you forget to do research about Guns of your Opponent šš¤š¤
Its True Chinese don't have any Proven Naval fighter jet but still they have more Warships and Submarines than to USA , see below list
Top 10 Countries with the Largest Military Submarine Fleets (Global Firepower 2021):
China - 79
United States - 68
Russia - 64
North Korea - 36
Iran - 29
South Korea - 22
Japan - 20
India - 17
Turkey - 12
Colombia, Greece, United Kingdom (tie) - 11
Absolutely.
China is a powehouse. Their technology is top-tier. They have brains. They're nationalistic. Their military force is the solid 3rd most powerful one (and will be the 1st one in 15 years). They have control of the world's supply chain. They stole a lot of US tech.
This is obvious to anyone who doesn't inform themself watching military videos made by teenagers on YouTube.
The US still has a clear advantage. But the difference narrows year after year. In 5 more years I think they will be quite equal. In fact, in some aspects, such as China's supersonic technology, it already has an advantage.
In man power, yes, by far. Technology, training, and equipment wise? No way.
We have the largest Air Force in the world. We also have the second largest Air Force in the world, via our Navy. I think we're good.
probably, the US military has lots of the best equipment but they are going woke, so their deadliness will be 50% lower soon. China will be training their soldiers to be elite killers and the US Army is banking on Emma and her 2 moms.
Maybe. If every person in China jumps up and down at the same time it will create a tidal wave so big it will destroy the Navy fleet.
No. By most accounts, Russia is a bigger military might than China. We all see how that's working.
@Trackboy Your comment, is perhaps the dumbest one I've ever read on here. And that is saying A LOT!
where do you think the electronics in an American tank come from? xD
exactly. i think china already surpassed the USA technologically.
China, maybe not, but we know who can
I think after 10 to 12 Years, China will Surpass US military if US don't speed up its defense sectors ! China is already Ahead in Navy from USA
@leopard23 Oh Yeah, Could you define what US military have got New what they did not have in 1990 ?
Apart from F-35 or F-22 there is Nothing New and to counter that China also have J-20 Stealth Fighter jets
Where do I start. The F35 A/B/C as well as something else is replacing the f15, f16, f18, Harrier, A10.
The army is replacing the M16/M4 platform and 5.56 mm with M7 firing the 8.6mm round. A squad automatic version of the M7 will replace the SAW. As well as a designated marksman version.
The US MARINES are trading their M16/M4s, SAWs and designated marksman rifles to give every marine an IAR which combines all three into one.
Infantry are getting smart scopes that can calculate distance and adjust targeting for it, thermal and nightvision and adjustable long range optics with motion detection.
The M1 Abrahams is either being replaced or completely gutted with a new hybrid fuel efficient engine, better armor, better main gun, better targeting systems etc.
Bradley APCs to be replaces with versions of the stryker or something new.
Humvees to be replaced by the JLTV. Most JLTVs and other military vechiles look set to get a RCWS system which allows to be soldier to man a turret in the vechile without being needlessly exposed to fire. These turrets can mount any type of machine gun from 50cal to below, rocket launchers, grenade launchers, mortars. The system has motion sensors, night vision, thermal optics and can spot enemies at extreme range and fire on them more accurately than a sniper. Nowhere for enemy infantry to hide.
Blackhawk helicopters are getting replaced by the tilt rotar Bell 280 valour which is 100 miles an hour faster and has nearly 3 times the range carry more. Its rival the SB-1 Defiant a couple. pind helicopter with coaxial rotary may also be build in small numbers too possibly for the navy or airforce. The Marines have long been replacing their helicopters with the tilt rotar v22 osprey.
Changes to rocket and artillery systems. Smart shells, rockets etc. New missles for fighters, new anti Air missles. Airbrush grenade launchers. US Navy has 2 new aircraft carriers under construction. Navy ships to get rail guns and laser weaponry. New drones of all different types.
All us personel integrated into the digital battlefield. New technologies that's going to result in new tactics and a lot of possibilities. Actually kinda scary.
@leopard23 Chinese are also enhancing and upgrading their Weapons, XI Jinping daily asks to his Army to get Ready for WAR !
See, US and China won't and can't fight a WAR on a Land... Right? So conflict may happen in the Sea water or in Air only... and both the Place China has an edge over other Countries !
Chinese PL--15, PL-17 Air 2 Air Missiles have up to 200 Km Range which is Really Deadly !
India have developed Barak--8 Missile defense system with Israel and Also India have Russian S-400 Missile defense System both are very Potent Platform but in Air 2 Air Combat India Needs Beyond Visual Range Missile which should have Range 200 ++ Kilometer , Currently India Have Meteor Missile which has a Range of 15o Km with Rafale fighter Jet, India is Testing its Astra-2 Missile which will have Range of 200 Km... but As of Now in 2023... Chinese Air 2 Air Missiles have longer range than to USA, French or Inidan Missiles
China had no edge in the sea or land. They have some good equipment but the majority of it is old stuff from the 70s.
The US has missles with similar performance to the PL--15, PL-17 but here's the thing they can't hit a stealth fighter a 200km. If the Chinese J-20 have actual stealth that's up to even the old f117 nighthawk standards and a missle that can hit targets at 200km then they'd wipe the Indian airforce out in a day with a handful of aircraft
The US has the AIM-260 JATM which has a range of 200km
@leopard23 As of Now in 2023, 1) Meteor is No#1 Air 2 Air Missile and Indian have it on its Rafale fighter Jets, also India have Russian R-77 and K-100 and Indigenous Astra-1 but don't forget Chinese have large Number of J-20 Stealth fighter Jets equipped with very Long Range P-15 and they also Chinese have One DEDICATED Fighter jet for Electronic warfare...
" Chinaās J-16D electronic warfare jet to make debut at Airshow China " So US Can't take an 1 2 1 Fight with Chinese Fighter Jets near Taiwan or Over South China Sea !
In terms of equipment, no. But it's not just what you have, it's also how effectively you can use it.
No our bombing system and fighter jet planes will over come China
Yes. The us military isn't special anymore. I heard on the news Biden mentioned semiconductors... if you think Russia and China can't make their own, you're a fool.
Yes. They train tactics and warfare. We train pronouns
What was the last war they won that wasnāt being fought against their own people?
🤔
No. China has been proven to have weather Balloon technology. 😆😆😆
I believe they could if they tried.
Yes, they can. Easily.
I wouldn't want to test that theory.
Yes they can in Å”ÄāallÄh.
Hey, man, you're allowed to be a Muslim, but you're not allowed to hate your own country. You'd better get straight.
Nu, I hate how the president of my country attacked a neighbouring country a year and a day ago.
Oh, okay. I'm sorry. I thought you were American.
@Jamie05rhs I was born on a North American island, right, but as Iām Russian, thatās my country, comrade. I hate no countries, in fact, but most of their dang governments. To be honest, I kind of hate the Chinese government more than the Yankee government.
Okay. Cool, man.
by the way, where were you born? Iceland?
(Just curious)
@Jamie05rhs I was born in Manhattan, New York City. Now I reside on an African island called Tenerife, which is on Spanish territory.
Oh, okay. Interesting.
Hopefully weāll never find out.
probably.
Nope.
