Is pregnancy a disability?

Women are physically mentally and emotionally impacted by pregnancy in negative ways. Should they be given the same accomodations as a disabled person?

No it is not a disability. When my s/o was expecting our children, it had its inconveniences and difficulties, but nothing debilitating.

More to the point, I thought she was the most beautiful I had ever seen her. I just wanted to be with her and care for her, knowing that she was carrying a little life that we had made together.

Put it all together, weighing the goods and the bads, it was special time. I would not trade it away for anything.

Well you’re in a way they do… pregnancy leave gives an automatic few months off while allowing the woman to maintain her job if she so desires to return. I have even heard that some companies do allow a woman to have it set up that she can arrange pay while on that leave though not many. But being that unless there are complications with the birth in most cases there isn’t grounds for a company to set up for that precaution at all.

No, it should not automatically be treated as a disability because for most women, it’s not.
But when problems arise, getting the designation shouldn’t be difficult either.

it's not technically a disability but it does have some of the same characteristics in hindering the physical body and mental health and having potential long-term negative consequences

It's not a disability by law. And it shouldn't be. Pregnancy is not a disability.
