I don't like seeing the crime, trash all over, poverty... but especially the crime without punishment and ability to stop and correct the crime immediately. That used to be championed in society. We're a corrupt country, regardless of red/blue. Check out the "true red state"... Singapore! No gum on the sidewalk... that's my kinda state right there. Drop some gum, you get some whacks! Drop trash, go clean sidewalks with a toothbrush. Fixes problems fast. But oh no... we "got rights", that hurt our feelings. Good grief. I know "Asian" kids that get whacked... those kids are terrified of their parents... and will be successful after they get over their trauma.

I also don't like to see the failed support systems for displaced, hungry, desperate people and total unfairness and corruption. Unbelievable to see people receive all sorts of help and food while others are left on the street corner with little to nothing. I've seen it. Red cities solve this by kicking people out, blue cities take them all in and flounder under the weight of it.

Not that red is perfect, but ultimately, a lot of issues are caused by early life conditioning (parents, training, education, trauma) and support systems failing people.

Fix that, world gets better.

I'm in CA. This state is terrible. High crime that is increasing because of lack of prosecution of criminals due to liberal policies, MUCH more homeless to the point they are laying on the sidewalk in front of some stores too, more drug use, noticeably more racism in the workplace and in schools against Whites and Asians, higher state taxes, higher gas prices, higher food prices, MUCH higher utility prices (close to 2.5 times the prices as last year for using the same amount of resources, they promote sexism against men and racism against Whites in the k-12 school system here, they lie to students to promote the liberal agenda, they cater to trans people and allow things that 10 years ago would have landed them in prison for, they sexualize children, they promote homosexuality to little elementary aged kids in school. CA is a terrible, immoral society.

I am trying to leave by August. I am currently applying for jobs in a red state.

I’m not sure that your crime assessment is correct, especially since red states tend to be lower wage and more poverty stricken than blue states. Crime closely correlates to economic status. Harsher sentencing has never been shown to reduce recidivism. In fact, some studies show it actually increases it and makes society less safe. The fact that we have higher crime rates than other developed nations along with the world’s largest prison and jail population bears out what I’m saying. Thinking like yours is antiquated and wrong.

Your comments are dishonest. Yes, there are a larger overall number of crimes in an urban area because of the sheer number of people. No policy from a mayor, whether democrat or republican, changes that reality. But if you study those statistics more honestly, the major cities usually do not have the highest crime rates in the state. You’re typically more likely to be a victim in a smaller town. I live in Illinois. Chicago isn’t even in the top 10 of municipalities with the worst crime rates. So you cannot blame the major cities for your states overall crime rate. Conservative ideas on criminal justice have proven to be ineffective and harmful. The liberal model of using evidence based rehabilitation only yields very modest results. There is no magic solution to crime but republicans have absolutely nothing to add to the debate.

In fact, it would be a disaster if conservative republicans ever ran major metropolitan areas. They would dismantle what programs and safety nets do exist and would exacerbate poverty and crime along with it.
