Republicans tried to cancel Janet Jackson when her breast got exposed during a Super Bowl halftime show performance, they tried to cancel Muhammad Ali for not fighting in Vietnam, they tried to cancel Colin Kaepernick for kneeling during the national anthem, any attempts to boycott or ban products, groups such as trans people, concepts and ideas, rallying consumers away from allegedly “woke” companies, all kinds of stuff, that all falls under “cancelling.” Fair to say everyone just tries to shout down and demonize things that personally offend them.

Democrats could stand to lighten up a bit with the cancellation, for sure. I’m not a Democrat, incidentally. I understand what they’re trying to accomplish, I agree with most of it but they’re at like a 9.7 and I’d love to see it more like a 5.4. Definitely stand up to bullshit that needs to be stood up for, but don’t go searching for any little thing, and be understanding and allow people to make mistakes and grow.

We put the wrong people on pedestals, particularly entertainers: athletes, actors, musicians. They don’t really provide any great service. I mean, we enjoy all that stuff but we could absolutely survive without any of it. And these are the people most frequently cancelled. Politicians are up there too, but at least they’re in positions of power and it makes sense to clean house in that venue.

Entertainers just disappoint us when they do bad things because we grow attached to them and view them as larger-than-life, but it doesn’t have any true effect on us, only anyone directly harmed by said bad things. Obviously the behavior can offend or even disgust us, I just mean that in the grand scheme of things, we’re no worse for wear no matter what James Franco or R. Kelly have done.

Anyway, the point I have to take a sudden shortcut to because I have to run is: the people who should really be cancelled, we probably don’t even know their names, they aren’t celebrities.

That is what Colin wants people to think; but the reality is that his ego kept him from adjusting to the league after the league adjusted to him. So he lost his job because of his poor performance. Not his views on police brutality. There was other athletes in the NFL who made the same arguments about police brutality and kneeled during the anthem. However, because they were decent players; they were able to keep their jobs in the NFL. People hate Colin because he is an insufferable twat complaining about losing his NFL job for his politics; when it was clear that he lost it because he sucked. Anyone who followed the 49ers during this time will tell you that without question.
