Comes from my favorite video game of all time Final Fantasy Tactics.

agree or disagree? The meaning is that the upper class (rich) can afford to pay the fine, and will often continue to do the illegal behavior. And therefore The lower class (poor) are the real subjects of the law.

Well… better than the death penalty, but yes, also a bit seemingly corrupt.

It’s probably assumed that “back in the day,” most crimes were done by the poor, so a fine probs seemed like a good discouragement/ dissuasion.

The logic probably was:

“Usually hard-working people shouldn’t have time to perform crime,” but hard work doesn’t mean the work is cleansed from corruption..

First corruption is: Need. Reacting to others negatively because they don’t think anyone will help them get what they need. They commit crimes known to the law, and others, consequentially.

Second Corruption is: Greed. Trying to get more of things, or any one thing, out of want that cannot be controlled. More like an addiction and a bit onwards.

One lacks morals in the form of negligence, and one breaks morals due to being compelled and valuing/prioritizing something more crucial/urgent for their survival and wellbeing.

Obviously, this is true for

corruptions.

The fine DOES address one ☝️ corruption directly, but both of them (demographics) can “ignore” the law continually, if they never learn or don’t see. The rich can dismiss it as trivial and the poor can pay it and still continue on their “life mission.” That would be described as tainted.

If they RESPOND properly… the greedy rich- or any rich- would not want to lose their HARD earned money, to a trivial MATTER. It’s not worth it to them, and they’re mindful of their money, usually. Somewhat attached, so they’d avoid that in the future and also try to build/ reputation and status with their money.

The poor would understand they can’t keep losing PRECIOUS expenses to a non-understanding government to their needs, so they would try to avoid that crime, to continue their slow climb, up the ladder, without hindrance.

The fine and penalty of death don’t address that the issue isn’t the people… The issue is a misbalance of currency, all over these public societies, and an improper way of handling these crimes.

Someone somewhere can have 7 cars and another elsewhere, cannot even manage to get one, or would take 7 years (exaggerated), just to get that one car ☝️.

One is may be fined, for methodically stealing money in a Corp, and the other could be fined for stealing money impulsively or simply methodically, but without a company cover.

One doesn’t need EXTRA money and the other doesn’t go the right way of getting a share of money.

Both are WRONG.

One needs therapy to be happy with what they’ve got and find satisfaction elsewhere, and the other needs assistance to get a share.

That’s in the crimes of money, directly related to a fine punishment.

Both rich and poor can commit other types of crimes and the rule of thumb would still kind of apply, if they weren’t already just mentally disturbed people.

les miserables shows us the poor are driven by death.

the rich driven by their own wants.

THOUGH evil people can exist in both sectors and not be due to money, but how they were raised and the experiences they had and what had happened to them in their lifetimes.

Morals are taught… some who are seemingly born with it, lose it because of harsh lessons from society.

Basically yea. But making it based on a person's income or assets would be struck down by courts so damn fast.

On the other hand, the driver still gets points against them, and potentially lose their license. Not to mention that they could go to jail. So a fine is just part of it.

Really depends on where your at, some places, fines are based on your income, but were I live, it's usually based on the crime.
