My take is different.

We have Anti Trust Laws on the books, corruption laws, pro environmental protection, and pro competitive laws however the ones who get busted are everyday people.

One such example is the pitiful arrest of “possession”. Possessing drugs, landed innocent people who were addicts to prison in a viscous cycle all in the name of The War On Drugs. One of the biggest supporters was Biden, along with many other lawmakers though the biggest contributors were President Nixon and President Reagan. The damage sustained has echoed for decades and people are still locked up.

The rich are allowed to exploit, destroy, and intimidate, also buy out competition which reduces quality, consumer rights, and more anti competitive practices all in favor of stock investors, efficiency, and expansion of industry. They’ll lobby, infest, and make their whims the whims of the citizen at the exploitation of environment, personal health, and so on all for more money in their pockets.
You can’t possess a drug, you can’t digitize or physical copy a DVD or Blu Ray Movie for personal uses, or walk down the street without an AI powered camera recording you under American Law. Laws are broken, because the system is broken. This goes deeper than the people.

We see President Trump, Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Bill Clinton, and other high rankers get away with Epstein File crimes. Even Ghislaine Maxwell got transferred to a less secure prison all for bending the knee to Trump, though still short of a pardon. Mainly because the release of the 50th birthday album made by Maxwell herself was released to the public which humiliated Trump to the highest degree showcasing his involvement in his best friend Epstein (along with Bill Clinton). “May everyday be a wonderful secret” in his doodle of a naked woman with his signature mimicking pubic hair.

This whole system is broken and we need to hold even the most corrupt accountable regardless of class or creed, even those involved in Welfare Fraud in Minnesota.

On top of that we have poisoned fruit doctrine to mitigate our state political powers to tamper down in our constitution. Largest power being a jury of peers. Yet every citizen sees it as an annoying choir yet foundation to our fundamental principles and rights.  Yes our law enforcement and due process is crumbling but the root causes is fundamental our passive and ultimately disinterest in jury duty.  As sad as it sounds it actually very promising because we the people can do something right here right now by just giving a fuck because jury duty is where rubber meets the road.

In his memoir, one of the retired justices pointed out that the Supreme Court is only the Supreme Court as long as people believe that it's rulings should be followed. The Supreme Court has no armed forces to enforce it's rulings. Today we have a President who doesn't believe he is subject to any other authority. If he defies a Supreme Court ruling, and Justice and other armed forces follow him, then we have no courts.

Yeah, that goes without saying. And it's what fascists rely on. If they can take control of the machinery of government, the laws written on paper are irrelevant. The law becomes whatever the thugs with guns say it is. This is how democracy dies and dictators seize power while the majority stand by and let it happen.

No. Again, there are literally thousands of dead letter laws on the books. Nobody is pushing to repeal them because most intelligent people understand the cyclical nature of history and human behavior.
Also again, we don’t stop trying to enforce the law just because we can’t do so perfectly. In your fantasy our only options are utopia and anarchy. That’s frankly a childish perspective on the subject.

it can be true. there shouldn't be ways to subvert the law. and those that enforce the law are usually bad people that think they are above the law. so, if the law doesn't apply to them, how does that work?
