In a way both sides can claim "victory".

We'd have to define our terms. What does winning mean? What does losing mean?

Russia has lost over 100,000 men, thousands of tanks and vehicles, the are shunned by the world, and they have failed to take Kyiv and conquer the country. So Russia has lost?

Probably.

Ukraine has lost thousands of soldiers and citizens, power grids and entire cities have been destroyed, Russia controls part of the eastern country. Ukraine has lost. In a way yes.

Russia has failed to take Kyiv and to take control of the country so under that guise they lost.

Will Ukraine ever be able to kick all of the Russian forces out of the east and to re-take Crimea? If not, Russia can claim that as victory.

It depends on how we define our terms. Russia has definitely taken a loss by not reaching its main objectives, taking horrific casualties and losing respect and connection with the rest of the world.

I dont believe they've won it yet. Russia will keep on fighting regardless and can't back down no matter the cost. The US government knows this and will continue to bleed Russia until the Russian economy collapses like it did in 1989.

The vultures are already circling as Russian states and vassals look for independence from Russia. Rival States like China snd India are all too happy to exploit Russia's desperation and weakness.
