Its not enough that we can't teach about slavery and the genocide of native americans in high school, but now they want to ban teaching it all even on college campuses, oh and I don't care what you feel about your tax dollars, because your measly five dollars doesn't even touch education.

Simple blunt answer? It's easier to recreate history if you erase it. By that I mean repeat the events in a different context.

Every single country does this. It's easy to see over time specifically within school systems. We take certain events that happened and the wording will get changed, the facts will get skewed, certain things will "disappear", and the ignorance will create illogical emotional responses. Why do you think textbooks get "updated" every year? Countries will make it seem like they were either the victim or the conqueror depending on scenario and those that learn strictly from school systems will be ignorant to facts. This creates generational differences in beliefs and ultimately allows governments to gain population control of the newer generations in a long-winded game of politics.

If they're trying to erase the genocide and racism that occurred during the creation of this country, that simply means they're trying to force those groups back into a minority position where the government ultimately gains control again. Eventually, we will fall back into the patterns that this country began on. Because that is how the world works. It wouldn't be the first or the last time it's happened. Why do you think we still have reservations? Why do you think those reservations have been turned into dirt-poor societies? They know that if those people were given any opportunity to correct things, they would overthrow the country as we know it because educated people with basic human morals would side with them.

There's been a massive push from several groups within the USA, over the last decade alone, to force change and to balance the scales. Those in power are squirming due to the fear of losing that power so they are trying to target groups that have very little social/economic control. "Minorities" and children are the easiest targets since they tend to depend heavily on government assistance. Our tax dollars are given in order to run those systems and help the needy survive but only at the government's will. Therefore, we have no say in what that money is put towards but we do have a say in spreading proper knowledge through social media in the hopes that the right people will hear it and be able to make a change. Unfortunately, the government holds tight control of their power so making that change is a very difficult process politically.

Because when they oppose teaching an accurate account of our history, they’re feeding into a self-created culture war that keeps the racists and fringe kooks voting for them. It’s about mirroring a narrative that doesn’t want to be honest about this country’s record on race and equality because it would destroy the laughable illusion that white people are somehow the victims. How dare anyone want to discuss genocide against the native American or institutional racism from reconstruction to Jim Crow to modern day. When information becomes the enemy, you have to question the motives of the government. I’m also not sure it’s constitutional for the state to regulate speech like that. There is a little thing called the first amendment.
